1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml." Vista/Win7 users: In the apploader folder, simply click on "Compatibility files" to see the actual Vendor.xml file. Once you've got that - simply delete the vendor.xml file there (even if you've deleted or think you've deleted it in the folder previously) and voila, it will allow you to update to the newly installed OS!
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the AppLoader says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

I am a Mac user but I do have access to a PC. Why are the files Hutchison.exe? I understand I will need to delete the Vendor.xml file after that though will I be able to grab the rest of those files, put them on a Flash drive then Plug it in my Mac & update my Bold 9000 with those file using DM?

Yes it will work on all 9000's. just be sure to delete the Vendor.xml file as specified in the instructions above.

The Lock button is back! Joy! It instantly just makes the screen go dark and you press the Mute button on top to unlock it. If you press another button the screen lights up with a little box pops up saying to press the Mute button to unlock.

Seems to respond faster too but it's too early to tell how the battery life runs and if there are any memory leaks.

This build is better than 681. WiFi connects much faster and menu screens are faster.

It has been almost 3 days since I had upgraded to this version, so far no issue encountered. :D

What does this new version fix? Or is it just the "latest and greatest"?

Horrible situation with this OS:

During installation my device will not get past the AT&T logo screen. I left the device on all night in hopes it would. I disconnect rebooted and got to the logo screen again. I clicked on the load file to install the OS and Application Setup Wizard will not get past "Read Device Configuration". I am stopped and I'm not sure what to do next.

Thanks

If you are stuck on the AT&T screen then you didn't read the instructions. You have to delete the vendor. file from the folder before you begin the update. Go back and read the instructions for updating the OS.
