My memory is much better with this - hovers around 24MB consistently, far better than I was getting with the last builds... I HAVE noticed my radio seems to turn off intermittently, but it also seems to coincide with installing any location-based app (Google maps, Poynt, etc). Otherwise, seems to be a good step in the right direction.

The only other thing is my memopad and tasks have disappeared again - not sure why this keeps happening.

Default Can't find file to delete

I have gone through all the processes and now cannot complete "Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml." It does not exist. Any suggestions?

It's hard to say. Whenever I've seen a problem like this, I have gone to the provider and replaced the SIM card. It could just be a coincidence that it has been damaged, possibly due to handling. I recommend you get it replaced first.

Regards,
Rob

I noticed that my radio would turn off as well, but it seemed like it did it every 15 or so minutes.

Or I would notice that while I had full bars, it would say it couldn't connect to the internet for applications like UberTwitter.

Really odd, so I just rolled back to the previous OS and everything is fine now.

I must say I'm enjoying this release quite a bit. Better battery life and much better memory leak handling for sure. The devices hangs less frequently, and has not crashed so far over the last two days of use. Haven't pulled my battery even once for the whole two days, and I still have more than 7MB of memory. That's actually pretty big considering I use 10+ Apps on my phone. I would've had less than a MB left by now if I were using my previous OS, which was 592.

Memory use was my biggest concern when using 592. I upgraded to .681 as a leaked version a couple of weeks ago and was initially impressed by the big improvement in menory usage. However that has deterioriated over time. Now after a battery pull I am down to 18mb. After the initial install I was 24+ megs. Currently at 2.7mb, three days after a battery pull. On the plus side, I am not getting any warnings about lack of memory, which I got from a 4.6 official release about a year ago. This OS along with 592 lets memory get lower than I ever had before. These OSs must handle memory differently than earlier OSs and not hand off memory until absolutely needed.
After being initially elated about better memory use with .681, it would appear that .681 is no better than .592.

Wow nice change from two OS's ago. I will say I do notice the unit making noise when you switch between songs on the media player; its as if there is a loose connection even though there isn't as I don't hear anything with the ear phones on my iPOD.

I found another problem with .592, if you listen to MP3s it would automatically switch to the voice activation thingy were it says "please say something now". And if you switched back to your audio by pressing the back arrow it would like the chipmunks. All sound from that point on the BB would be playing in high-speed mode. Too funny!

Been using .681 for a few days...and I cannot load BB App World from any source that I can find, including from the BB.com web page!

A pop up comes up saying the page is not found! What's up with that?

Hmm...That's strange...I just checked my phone again and I have 9.8MB left..and I still haven't pulled my battery out yet.

Another thing I found is that this OS has the ability to LOCK!!
I pressed K and it locks all the buttons and dims the screen right away. To unlock, you'll have to press the mute button. I'm liking this much more than previous K to lock and A + Call button to unlock!

Available memory actually went down to zero this morning. Still worked fine. I opened another program (Viigo) whcih I know has a large memeory footprint and it worked fine. After exiting Viigo, gained a few kbs of memory. A battery pull and I had 20 mb.
I guess I should not be as concerned as I am with memory usage, as it is not interfering with my ability to run my many programs.
