About to downgrade :(

Love the new look, textured buttons, slight improvement in useability (some things are where you expect them to be!).
Not too sure about the volume scales and similar - is being able to choose 1-10 really better than soft/medium/loud? I'm not that fussy. Had to re-edit most of my profiles as everything was a lot quieter after the upgrade.

I didn't notice any difference in overall speed or battery life. Booting still takes an age (although the new boot screen with progress bar is a lot better than the old white thing with stopwatch), and I didn't notice any improvement browsing pictures. If I sat with a stopwatch and timed before and after I may have found a difference, but as an end user experience, booting and pic browsing is just too slow. RIM really need to get this sorted - I can't imagine an iphone user being willing to put up with similar carp!

The 'back' button stopped working in some aps - like vodafone (uk) satnav. Meant I ended up stuck on screens with no way to get back to the previous menu! Reboot...

The thing that killed it for me is the sms threading which is buggy as hell on my bold. it seemes to randomly thread conversations, so that I don't actually know where my texts are coming from. One day it lumps all my txts from everyone in the same thread, another day it puts them somewhere else.

So I'll be going back to 4.wotsit until a release or two down the road :(.

Pity.

I think I spoke too soon, Memory has dropped back down to 12 megs even with Bolt gone. In a way I`m glad.....I missed not having Bolt, I`ll be putting it back on.

BB went into a loop of self-reboot every few minutes. Hard reset did not help.

No choice but to downgrade to 4.6 yesterday evening.

Hopefully newer version of 5.0 is release soon.

Did that happen right after you upgraded ? or were you using 5.0 for a while ?

Default SMS & BBM Non-responsive

Well,

I thought OS5 was great. However, lately I have had intermittent problems with BBM5 and SMS messaging where I can not send a reply, or initiate a conversation at all.

I can receive incoming messages, but can not send anything with "enter" or clicking on "send".

I may have to downgrade since these messages are typically more urgent than email and waiting for a reboot is not acceptable to reply.

I know some people don't like keeping help files but I do. so it's your choice.

Once you find those vvm files copy it and paste it in a folder easy to navigate to.
I copied mine in C:/Program Files (x86)/BBSAK/CODs/VVM/
because it's just easier for me.

Hopefully your done rebooting cause I know it takes forever.
Once again open your BBSAK and click INSTALL COD's
go ahead and navigate to where you copied those vvm files and install!
wala let your thing reinstall and reboot.. and hopefully all goes well
I had to do a bunch of reboots cause of all the mass apps i reinstalled
but maybe after you install it and run it try to do a battery pull and then

Options> Advanced Options > Host Routing Table> Register Now!

that's what I did.. hope it works for you

i did all this and copied these exact files

net_rim_bb_vvm.cod
net_rim_bb_vvm_alu_http_lib.cod
net_rim_bb_vvm_help__en.cod
net_rim_bb_vvm_resource.cod
net_rim_bb_vvm_resource__en.cod
net_rim_bb_vvm_resource_114.cod
net_rim_bb_vvm_resource_114__en.cod
net_rim_bb_vvm_resource114.cod
net_rim_bb_vvm_settings_lib.cod

loaded them as you said, and i get an "uncaught exeption: net.rim.device.api.i.18n.missing resourceException "

what did i do wrong ?

My mem after reboot is at 25mb and 12-15hours later it goes to even 0!! I have noticed that BerryWeather 1.6 causes most of the leak so i removed it.. Has anyone else noticed something like that?

Yes, I noticed something similar. But not to the same extreme as you. I thought it was Bolt causing problems but now thinking its google maps . Running Gmaps brings my memory down to 10 megs at times depending on how long its running, After resetting gmaps I`m back up to 18-20 megs free

Yes it is.

But just delete the vendor.xml file.

The Sweden/Denmark multi-language version of 5.0 does not offer Russian. (I do a lot of business in Moscow, and I need to send emails in Russian.) Does anyone have a link to the Russian 5.0?

5.0.0.464 works perfect, except for the manual WiFi connect. I know it's beta but itxxx8217;s better than the released 411

I am staying on that one with Rogers until Rogers releases an official OS 5 and it is stable.
