VVM doesn't seem to be working, but i'm thinking maybe i need to set that password first.

Your default P/W is your wireless phone number (minus the area code). The AT&T lady told me so...

It was set to do that by default. I turned it off and turned it back on just for good measure. Still no luck.

Try replacing the cods in the java folder of the OS and then rerun loader.exe or dm.

I came across an odd problem after upgrading to .297 this evening. I've discovered that, while charging, the screen and keyboard backlights stay on and the phone will not lock after the specified period of time. Has anyone else experienced this bit of wonderfulness? I know my settings are correct.
Gad...it just got weirder...I'm sitting here watching the backlights start to fade out, then suddenly jump back to full brightness. It's just cycling over and over.
This is not good. I fear a complete wipe/reinstall is in order. Not happy.

App World Issue?
Been receiving the following error after a soft (ALT+SHIFT+DEL) or hard (battery pull) reboot:
Quote:
Uncaught Exception: java.lang.IllegalStateException
|
Yes, I've searched all over and it sounds like it's an error that can have a number of causes ranging from a corrupt OS installation to any application. Again, it only occurs following a device restart. After a few hours of trial-and-error, including both an in-place upgrade (over .282) and a wipe and reinstall of apps individually, then adding/removing apps one at a time, I can verify that it's the current version of BlackBerry App World (1.1.0.15) that seems to be the cause. If I uninstall App World, the problem goes away and if I reinstall it comes back. It doesn't seem to cause any issue other than that error popping up a couple of times successively after each restart, so it's mostly just an annoyance - and I hate annoyances. And this is on both an upgraded device and then again after wiping it clean and starting "from scratch".
Anyone else seeing this on OS .297?

I've just updated my debranded Bold to .297 - everything during the backup + upgrade went well.
However, the phone seems to have a problem with regaining a BIS connection. All I get is the "3G" icon (not "3g"), but no BB icon.
Anything that I should be aware of? FWIW, I am using the East Asian package on a non-AT&T Bold.
TIA for any advice!

Update: never mind, I just did a battery pull, switched off connections, and rebooted the device - and all is well now.

I'm a Mac user and got updated just fine... using Windows. This is nothing new, and complaining about it again isn't going to make things develop faster. Use Windows (I'm sure you have access to a Windows machine somewhere) until RIM releases the DM for Mac (which is slated for September).

Thumbnails showing here just fine. Something wrong on your end, perhaps? Did you do a battery pull?

In the software selection of the loader i removed some apps. After successfully loading the new OS the removed apps are still in icons on the Bold marked "archived". There is an option to restore them. If you select it (on any of the archived apps) it just hangs on you forever and only a batt pull would get you out of there.
I'm sooooo bored having now to do a clean install and reload all my apps. :(

It seems to be associating entries to put on the 'today' screen with an old email account. If the 'Send Using' field is showing my current address then the entry doesnt appear on the home screen. Any idea as to how I change this? Thanks.

Delete the bbthumbs.dat file in each directory in the card and let it rebuild them and the pics will show fast and fine.

Nope so it must be that in combination with something else.
