Default Rolling out Drivers

Please Login to Remove!

So I tested a bit, and you can add the blackberry to a machine without installing the whole desktop package, by pointing it to the folder with the drivers in it, ie: I copied that folder somewhere, uninstalled everything, then attached the device and pointed it to the copied folder and it added the device.

With this said, has anyone found a way to roll out an sms package or similar that adds this to all machines "just in case". Main problem is that users try to plug it into their machine thinking it's charging, when in reality we know it's not.

Thanks in advance,

Shawn

SUS you mean?

We use such a system to roll out the blackberry manager to all machines and it works fine. Any larger enterprise networks should have such a system installed (though I'm not really familiar with them, that's a different portion of our network than I work in). I'll check up and see if our admin has any recommendations for something like that though.

Thanks for the responses. I know how to roll things out with SMS etc, SUS is a different monster that runs on top of SMS, but that's neither here nor there. What I've done in the meantime is just point people to the share created for 4.0 when it's looking for drivers. IE: \\blackberryserver\rim$\USBDrivers this will add the drivers for the device with no problem and keep you from having to put the desktop manager on the machine.

Works for now, and even for remote users is not that slow since the drivers are very small.
