there is no certain number. I have about 25 additional apps on mine, but I actively manage the memory so I don't lose anything. I've seen another user with nothing but JiveTalk installed, but with hundreds of pictures and tens of thousands of text messages and lose their call logs and messags.

The KEY is to keep the file free (Options > Status) at 12-15+ MB free

i still dont understand how to read the numbers (well i sort of do).. i have 7413090 of free space.. i recently got a micro sdhc and put my pictures and ringtones on it.. then i deleted almost all of my third party applications and other things i dont use because i wasnt receiving my texts. now i want to put applications back on it, but im worried they will use all of my memory up again.

"7413090" would be 7,413,090 so ROUGHLY speaking 7.4 MB.

Just stated simply, add a coma in front of the the right three digits, etc.

"15123456" would be 15,123,456 or 15.1 MB Free.

It gets much more complicated, and I am sure someone will come along and calculate the exact Bytes vs MB and confuse the issue.

maybe im overlooking something..

As is posted in many threads, you could try a battery pull. I do it once a week.
