Default Couple of questions about Storm 9530 vs Storm 2 9550

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

I have so many questions, I hope you guys can answer all of them. I have a BB storm and I'm thinking in upgrade to Storm 2, here are my questions:

1) Why pay for an unlock code when Verizon does it for free ? Are there diferent types of unlocking? Is this only if you wanna use it in another carrier in the US?
2) Once unlocked, Can I insert a sim card from an oversees carrier and I will get my emails and browsing while traveling (of course I would have the data plan from that carrier)? Will this work for both phones? My friend unlock his (9530) but was told that it will allow him to make calls and not receive emails, browsing or BB messenger.
3) Also the Storm works on 3g, is the storm 2 faster?

Thanks
JRM

Unlocking is for the GSM part of the phone not the CDMA part. Its so you can use it with different carriers that are GSM. This, as far as Im aware, applies to anywhere in the world, not just the US.

You would need to cancel your current BIS account, set it up with the new carrier.
You cant be on a SIM card from O2, and get your emails etc from Verizon's BIS.

Should be the same. They both work on the same network.
