Bluetooth connect to PC
Please Login to Remove!
Installed a bluetooth dongle on my PC but I can't seem to get it to sync with the desktop software. That is when i select a connection (my choices are USB, COM4, COM7, etc...) it can't find the device. The bluetooth is enabled on the phone and is working via the desktop. Any ideas?

Has the BB "detected" or "discovered" the BT connection on your computer. Put the computer in discovery mode to locate the BT on your BB.

Yeah BT has discovered the BB but when I try and add a connection via the BB desktop software it can;t find the device.
And vice a versa - the BB has discovered the BT and shows it in the "Paired Device" list.

I do not sync via BT so I am taking a stab in the dark helping you but give this a try.
Open DM (with all BT hardware turned on, i.e. computer and BB)
Click on the menu at the top on Options
Click on Connection Settings ...
Click on Detect
Just a stab at it.

I give up. It seems to connect when I log on to the DM but nothing happens (as in no sync) and I can't detect the device via the DM with any of the choices.

So to clarify you believe that DM is "connecting" but nothing happens?
It sounds like you have not setup your DM correclty. You need to setup DM to synchronize with your program (i.e. Outlook, Lotus Notes, etc) where your data is located (i.e. Contacts, Calendar, etc). Once you have done that you can setup DM to automatically reconcile once connected (i.e. BT or by USB) or manually synch once you tell DM to synch.

Well I didn't say that correctly...when I open the DM it does launch the BT on the BB but the DM says disconnected and there's no sync of files. My DM is/was set up and working fine with OE before.

Following these instructions does it even show your BT settings as an option or way to connect (middle section is for BT settings)? Double check that you are able to edit or enable BT through DM as those clearly are options. I would imagine if those are not enabled it would not locate your device.

No. But what connection am I supposed to use? There's <none>, USB, and COM 4 through 17. I've tried them all and ZERO results. It does not find the device.

Maybe the best question is . . . What version of DM are you using? Go to Help . . . About Desktop Manager.

If your device was detected it would of displayed your PIN followed by the type of connection, i.e. USB etc.

Do a search, there are some entries you must see in the BB bluetooth or it won't sync. Are you on BES? They can disable the feature.

I think Paul is using an older version of DM which is the reason why he is not able to connect w/BT. My $.02 but that is my theory.

Nope you need DM v4.2 in order to use BT. Follow this link in order to download it:
https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...6BD6BEEA96EE54
Also uninstall the old version from your Add/Remove Programs in Windows Control Panel.
You should be set from there. If not review the previous steps we communicated about it.
Let us know either way; cheers!

Here is one thread that talks about the BES policy. They have to change these settings;
Disable Desktop Connectivity
Disable Wireless Bypass
and under services in bluetooth on the BB you have these entries
Services:
Headset
Handsfree
Desktop Connectivity
Wireless Bypass

Ok, so I installed 4.2 and I do see the choice of BlueTooth in the connection setting menu but it's not highlighted and I can't select it. My bluetooth seems to be working (it says I'm connected to the PC and the blue light's flashing on the BB), but I can not sync it with the DM. Only via the USB cable. Oh well.

Paul,
Are you on BES?
On the BB, when you go into options ==> bluetooth ==> options. Scroll down and look under services. Do you see these entries?
Headset
Handsfree
Desktop Connectivity
Wireless Bypass
