Default The BES 4.1.5 for Exchange Trial

Please Login to Remove!

is it trial by SRP/CAL or trial by software?

meaning does the software time bomb or does RIM set the SRP to only work for 120 days?

Thanks
Andrew

So it's trial by software then?

I am just asking because I have the 10 free cals from the Domino freebie license. Which I could use instead of the keys they will give me for the Trial.

Thanks

it will ask for the upgrade key after 60 days no matter what CALs you put in. Why not just do the BES Express and add the CALs to that.

CAL keys are specific to the type of server you are using.

There was a thread about having 5 phones, you could get PRO with 5 CALs for free.

The older 4.1.3 or .4 SBS server I use to run with the 10 cals from BES 4.1.x Domino never complained about the CAL/SRP keys. I think I am going to have to install that as I have gotten no real answers from this site so far. :(

Thanks

the CALs are BES type specific, they arent specific to each Messaging platform.

So why did Blackberry Enterprise Server CALs work on Small Business Server then? I ran my BES on SBS 2003 PE for 6 or 7 months before rebuilding my SBS 2003 machine.

Here's a trick, can I slip stream the 4.1.5 update with 4.1.1 server? If that's possible I should be able to complish alot more.

Thanks
Andrew

you can install a full BES on the same server as your messaging server. it *will* work up to a point but puts terrible strain on the server itself. I run it now. The first CAL you put in will determine SMB edition or Enterprise. After that you can put any BES cal you want.

Weird because when I put the CAL/SRP from the Domino into the SBS when asked for them it never complained and it ran fine. However I could not tell in SBS how many CALs I actually had, is there away to tell? I have to reinstall it this weekend which will give me a chance to look at it.

I guess you don't know if BES SP's can be slipped streamed with the full versions like you can do with the Windows OS's service packs?

Thanks

Click on the Domain in BlackBerry Manager. Go to the Global Tab, then to Account > License Management. It will tell you what version of the BES (SMB, Enterprise, etc) and how many CALs you have.

I have CALs from Domino/Groupwise/Exchange on my server. They all work fine.

I do have another question for you. How much space do you think I need for SQL 2005 Server, and BES? I am going to setup them both up on one VMWare Server session next week, do you think 40GB is enough?

Also if I do this your way with the CALs, what happens if I put in 31 CALs in the professional version of BES does it complain or only allow you to use 30 Cals? How I get 30 is from the 1 free CAL, the 10 Domino, and 20 Exchange (from the Trial).

I will have more questions later I think. ;)

Thanks
Andrew
