Default BES user not receiving messages

Please Login to Remove!

Hello all,

Someone within my organization recently purchased a blackberry, and I've been tasked with getting a single user BES server set up to redirect his corporate email to his device. We have a BES 4.1/Exchange environment.

I was able to get the user added, and associate his Exchange mailbox without any problem. Enterprise activation took a while longer than expected, but he is in fact activated with the correct PIN and Blackberry Manager shows his status as "running."

I've enabled redirection and wireless synchronization. Currently his stats show that no messages have been sent or forwarded. He has 109 filtered messages and 255 failed messages. I've also noticed that the IT policy wasn't applied, its status just shows "error." I tried resending the policy, it will stay in pending for a minute or two and then go back to "error." Not sure if that is related or not...we don't really care to enforce a policy in the first place. Our primary goal is just to get the wireless synchronization running.

Does anybody have any ideas? This is my first time running BES, so I'm not really sure where to look from here. If anyone has any thoughts they'd be greatly appreciated.

Check the magt logs on the BES.

Are you sure permissions were done right?

Is the users a plain user or has other rights?

Can he send messages?
Or does it turn into a red cross?

Ha, I just found out it was a provisioning issue. It looks like he didn't actually get the service plan he was told to purchase (But it costs $10/month more!) Thanks for your comments everyone, sorry to waste your time!

Wirelessly posted

If you'd sent a message from the device you'd probably get a red cross and when opening the message you'd have seen "service blocked" in the top.
Good way to check in the future.

Very good information to know. Hard telling when another executive will drag in a personal phone and want the same thing done, so I may encounter this again in the future. Thanks!
