Please Login to Remove!

We just started trying to push this update out today...just a couple of questions...

1. The docs say to share the common files\research in motion folder...what permissions need to be on here?

2. Someone mentioned earlier in the thread that a cache folder would be created and that would mean that things were being processed as expected. Can anyone shed light on where that would be created?

3. Is there a log file anywhere that will let me see the progress of this application deployment?

Thanks

sublimnl:

1) Read permissions for everyone

2) C:\Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Enterprise Server\PackageCache (Note that this should be created as soon as you create the software config)

3) If you want to get deep into it, look at the POLC log for "PollForMissingApps" and you'll see log lines of it going out for each handheld...but the easier way is to use the dst2007query tool that you can download from the Patch page on BlackBerry

Already better than 4hours ...

If you want to force the application to deploy out faster than 4 hours, you can do the following:

- Browse to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Enterprise Server\BlackBerry IT Admin Server

- Create a new DWORD called AppProvisioningPollInterval.
Give it a value of a number of minutes. For example, a value of 5 would be 5 minutes.

- Restart the BlackBerry Policy Service.

Try not to do this in a production environment because it can hammer your BES.

Anyone thinking of doing this, DO NOT set below 30 minutes in a small environment, and you probably don't want to set below an hour and a half in a large environment. App Push takes quite a bit o resources and if you have a large environment there is the possibility that an app push can start for a user but take a long time to finish while the BES is working on other users/tasks and therefore the next polling cycle comes around and starts another app push for that same user...borking a lot of things.

Question small problem

Anyone had problem with date/time after the blackberry restarted?

I have many users reporting that after the restart asked by the blackberry, the date and time are no longer ok.

thanks

I had a couple yes but they were all prompted to confirm their date and time after the reboot. So I hope most of them did

Have a search through this thread, as I remember a few people having the date/time changed after patching.

Has anyone besides myself used javaloader to manually push the COD file to the handheld?
We are on Bes 3.6 so we could not push it from the server to the handhelds.

I've had a bunch of these..... I just told the users to reset their date/time and all was well.

Some of my devices were migrated from another BES, so my IT Policy isn't working. Is it possible to post the net_rim_bb_timezoneotapatcher.jad file on a website and have the BB download it? Not all my users have BB Desktop so I prefer not to send them the alx and cod files.

Have your users navigate to www . blackberry . com/dst2007 from their Blackberry and it will take them to the page to download the patcher over the air.

Fun Game for Friday in areas covered by DST change!

Turn off wireless
Set BB for 0159 Sun Mar 11, should tick to 0300
One minute later - 0300. All good so far.

Set for 0159 Sun Nov 4 should back tick to 0100.
One minute later -
7280 4.0.2.56 patched 0200
7280 4.0.0.219 patched 0200

Now, here's an interesting bit. Select the hour on Mar11 - 01, 03, 04, 05
Select the hour on Nov4 - if the above worked then in theory it should be 01,01,02,03 - but no.

Are you suggesting tat this patch only works for March and that we may have to do this all again in November?

I sincerely hope that isnt the case.

Ahhh. Nothing like patching so close to the deadline... but that is corporate bureaucracy for you!

Patching 1000+ users on 3 BES servers. I'm using patch manager 2.2 with the most up to date DSTQuery tool... our exchange guru's installed the exchange patch on the exchange servers, our clients are patched, now I'm pushing the update and then I'm going to do the send mail patch and finally the cdo update on the BES servers.

So my question is this... If I have Send As / Receive As permissions already established for the BESAdmin account in A.D. do I really need to run the send as tool?

I still don't quite understand that one....

your game is wrong. If you set the time to be Nov 4th at 1:59am, the clock will tick over to 2:00am. WHY you ask? well, I'll tell you...because 1:00 - 1:59am happen twice that day, so setting it to any time later than 12:59am will cause the BlackBerry to think that you are setting the proper time and therefore not adjust itself for daylight savings.

And why would you want a doubled number? I can understand that it's illogical to see a 2 for the hour when it's relating to 2am, because it's not possible to have a 2am...but it wouldn't make sense to have the 1 doubled.

once you've done all the patches and upgrades to exchange/windows, check to see what the permissions are...if they're still golden, then no need to run the setsendas tool....

I and 2 of my other bberry users just realized that if we create an appointment for next week using the blackberry (different models and carriers) that the time is correct on the bberry, but that it shows an hour later in Outlook. If we create the appointment for next week in Outlook it shows up at the correct time on the bberry.

Has anyone else run into this yet? This is a huge problem for me and my 250 bberry users.

Thanks
Ron

Ugh!
Second. I'm only showing 34 of 169 patched, but BlackBerry Manager claims the DST2007 Software Config pushed to all but 8 of my users successfully. (The very old handsets are struggling or not reporting).

But when I run the query...even my handset shows "Awaiting Patch"...YET in Options I have the patch listed, and in Applications I have net_rim_bb_timzoneotapatcher. Guess I won't know until tomorrow. At least the CEO's is coming back patched...

BB1887, what version of the DST2007Query tool are you using? Just do a right-click and look at the file properties. You should be using the version 4.1.2.12.

Click here to download it and here for the release note.

Good luck.
