I am having issues... issues... issues with the DST2007 patching tool released by RIM for the Blackberry Devices (v.2.2). Our environment has just over 50 users (including 7280, 7290, 8700c, 8703e, and 1 Pearl), 22 of which have been successfully patched.
The output from the "DST2007Query" tool has several status messages for the remainder of the other users, which even the RIM folks aren't 100% clear on (then again, I am waiting on hold for the third day in a row for over an hour, just to talk to a member of the RIM Server support team). Can anyone shed light on the following:
1.) Users with Query Tool status of "Helper not Installed" yet the device itself says "DST 2007 Patch applied" within the options. (I have seen 1 like this - is it really patched?)
2.) Users with status of "Error" where upon inspection of the device, a status is displayed under Options -> DST 2007 Patch that reads "DST 2007 Patch Manager Running..." and allows no options to manually download the patch. I have removed the device battery to reset, and the condition persists...
The errors on the remaining devices are not limited to a specific OS version or device model. This group includes 7290, 8700c and 8703e devices.
ALSO.....
In RIM's document "Daylight Saving Time 2007: Reference Guide for Deploying the DST 2007 Update", page 34 says " If the Rim DST 2007 Patch manager is unable to download the update after 18 hours, it will go into user mode, allowing the BlackBerry Device user to download the patch manually from the menu in Options -> 2007 DST Patch"...
My question: What if I don't want my users to have to download the patch manually? Can I force the devices that have already passed the 18 hour threshold to re-try an automated DST Patch download?
Also, can I clear cached information for the Software configuration and have BES re-collect all of the information on the status of the software deployment? Or, is the Software Configuration status not relevant in the case of DST Patching (being that only 10 of my users are listed as "Installation Needed" and the rest are listed as OK, yet the Query tool reports back that over 50% of my users have not been patched successfully.
If anyone can shed light, I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks!
