Older versions work just fine. I *think* it works fine when it is using the "built in" autocomplete database, but when it goes to retrieve "outside" autocomplete suggestions, that's when it runs into trouble....Judging by the release notes and version histories, I suspect this is the problem.

Given that, I desperately wish that the most recent version of the Berry411 software that *does not* retrieve non-programmed autocomplete suggestions were available to download, but it's not (or, at least, the link doesn't work).

I suspect this is unrelated to the new "yellow pages" issue though.

Hey Phil,

Another thing I personally would like to see is the phone number on the results page. From what I can tell is the only way to see it is to click the wheel, then it shows Call. It was nice to be able to see the phone number listed under the business name and address.

I'm wondering if this is a network setting issue.

For those getting the white screen, can you try the following:

(1) If you've configured your APN network settings and other network apps work like Google Maps work, try changing the default network type to "direct" under edit settings.

(2) Is network based autocomplete working? (You can test by typing "mitsu" and seeing if "mitsubishi dealership" shows up in the autcomplete list.)

Thanks for your help troubleshooting this.
(1) My APN settings are correct. Changing to "direct" gets me the IT Policy error message discussed above.

(2) If network-based autocomplete means the autocomplete function where the software actually goes and retrieves the suggestions from somewhere else, I don't think I have ever had that working (regardless of how the network type is set up -- default, BES, Direct). When set on direct, I get the IT Policy error message. When set on Default or BES, autocomplete works for a second, then appears to try to connect (i.e. the little arrows show up in the upper right hand corner of the screen), and then disappears.

I hope this helps. For the time being, I'm just going to go back to 3.50 (which works in my setup). If you could make links available to 3.91, 3.87 (the link is there, but it doesn't work via OTA), 3.85, 3.82, 3.71, and 3.61, in Version History on the website, it would be VERY helpful because I could then go to the most recent version that works for me.

Thanks again for all of your hard work Phil!

Is it worth wasting a line of the output, and doubling the number of link targets, however?

I could make that a configuration option. However, the yellow pages issues is a bigger one.

New school or classic yellow pages could be a config option too, I suppose. But I need to get to the root cause on this one.

I guess not if it would slow it down...

Thanks Phil, but in the interim, I have no problem "regressing" to an earlier version until you can get around to making it a config option. If you can update the Version History page of the site to permit dl'ing of the last version before the "network-based autocomplete" function was introduced, I would be most grateful.

I'm grateful anyway, though, because this program is just unbelievably handy.

Thanks.
