Default Problem w/BB Messenger (8800)

Please Login to Remove!

Both my 8800 and my gf's Pearl are doing this so I'm thinking its something we've missed but its rather annoying.

When we're both talking in Messenger, each time we get a message it blinks red (which we like) and then normally goes away as soon as we start to type a response. But the weird thing is, if I get two messages back to back from her (or from me to her), even while I'm typing a response to the first message, it still blinks red. If I then send another message, it still blinks. The *only* way for it to go away is if she messages me a 3rd time to which I reply (before receiving another message from her) and then it goes away.

I hope that makes sense but the problem is that sometimes she'll be needed at work and can't send another message and my phone will just continue to blink red. Has anyone ran across this and is it normal on other devices besides these two? I can clarify more if needed...

thanks!

I think you have a misunderstanding of the red light. It's not a per message light. I don't know the exact parameters but if you are IM'ing that fast it doesn't surprise me.

Oh man you and your girlfriend got robbed. Here is what I suggest...you send both devices to me because the issue your are reporting is not covered by RIM. PM me and I'll give you my mailing address.

hrm... not sure what to say to those responses. 2 sarcastic ones and one that really doesn't tell me too much.

If I'm not understanding this program its because its brand new to both of us. What exactly am I doing 'wrong' here and what aren't we understanding? To me I thought this was an IM chat type program between BB users, am I wrong here? And what I'm describing is exactly what's happening...

Actually you just need to chilla little, thats all

me and my gf use BB IM all day long and have for almost a year

What you need to realise is its a little buggy. There is nothing wrong with your BB IM that isnt wrong with eevryone elses.

The red led lite may get stuck ON for a while

It may look like a person in "unavailable" when they actually are

It may look like somone is available when they actually arent

Sometimes you will have a little delay in messages and u might see the clock icon next to it for a couple minutes, and then it will send

All these are known issues with BB IM.

Just get used to it. its not perfect but its great and me and my gf love it!

We are a very "modern" couple i guess lol, we even fight over BB IM haha!

Silly us!

Ur BBmessenger is working as designed as the others have indicated.

Thanks for the response. That's really all I was looking for. We don't message each other like 20 times a minute or crazy like that. We'll both be busy and message each other but if I happen to message her twice, her red light just stays on indefinitely until she responds and *then* i message her again. On that last message, as soon as she starts to type, that very second her red light stops going off. We've tested it here and its not like we're imagining it.

If its buggy then we can deal with it, I'm just making sure there's not a way to tell the BB that I'm aware of the newest message, that's all...

Yeah I've had a number of BB's in the past (7290, 8700c to name a couple) and I can honestly say that I've never come across a glitch/bug or anything that made me question something. Maybe I'm being picky here but when something happens that doesn't make sense, I, like many people on here, want to know why it's doing what its doing. But it sounds like I got my answer and I appreciate your response.
