If you have too many Apps loaded or low memory caused by memory use it could restart. It also could be a low battery causing the problem.

Threaten to put it under water. most cell phones hate water.

Press and hold the button with Blackberry on it and you will be able to see all apps that are running. You will need to close all apps that you currently do not need. Simply pressing Back button does not necessarily close the app: press the Menu button (BlackBerry button) while in the app and scroll down to Exit. That will close the app.

Running multiple apps in the background slows your phone and drains your battery.
