Personally, I have not purchase anything from Smartphone Depot, but the threads posted by bb forum members for not receiving what they've ordered and the lack of communication from the seller just keep popping up. I see that they are sponsors of bb forums, while I understand that they may have paid for sponsorship and/or are in agreement with bb forum to appear as sponsors, I think for the integrity of the forum and its good reputation, I would suggest that they be removed from the sponsor's section. I think they've had quite a bit of time to respond to all the allegations. The problem I see with having them in the sponsor section is that newbees may think that we are "recommending" them as a good source for bb accessories. Plus they are first on the list of sponsors..
Just my 2 cents

I second the motion

I ordered a headset on 1-19-07

My CC was charged that same day

Almost a month later and nothing

No replies to phone or email messages

I am putting the charges in dispute today

I do agree with this. I think the Admin's should check out the threads about the problem and try themselves to start a correspondence with them.

Like many on the forum, I had placed many orders in the past with Smartphonedepot and they'd always been very good about shipping and communicating delays.

I recommended them to a colleague and was shocked when he emailed that he'd not received something that he ordered back in December....and that all calls to their company went unanswered and that his credit card was charged the day he ordered.

Is even plausible that no one in authority here is aware of this after this much time?

We are aware and are trying to touch base with them.

Thanks

The same authority that made the decision on which sponsors to allow and to promote.

Please don't turn this into that which it is not. Thanks.

This is absolutely ridiculous. I reversed the charges, but am seriously disappointed that the forum continues to support the company as a sponsor. The company has yet to return any phone calls or emails.

Did you not read the posts above? We are trying to contact them, too.

Our sponsors have to pay for their banners, so we have a contract to uphold with them. We can't just go breaking it because some forum users are experiencing issues. If we did that all the time there would be no money to run this site and it would close!!! Now we know there is probably something going on, and we are trying to get in touch with them, but forum users must appreciate that the forum is run for them, not by them - so putting the heat on us to pull the banners won't work. In the same way you have bought goods from SPD, SPD have bought advertising space from us, so if we pull that advertising without having any explanation from them as to their recent problems, what does that make us????

Don't worry, negative feedback with multiple testimonials by BB Forum members will be enough to scare most people away. Soon this will replicate at Howardforums as well., etc

I guess it is nice to know that we are not the only ones that cannot get in touch with them

Weird because their web site is still up (and apparently functional). They show the BB 8800 and some accessories on it. So someone has been updating it.

Has anyone from the forum been able to contact them?

If not, and coupled with the complaints from multiple forum members, I suggest they be removed from the site since it appears by the complaints that they may be charging credit cards and not shipping or responding to customer inquiries.

Certainly this is not a company the forum wants to support -- and it quite possibly would have negative effects on other advertisers who were lumped in with advertisers who are generating a lot of negative feedback.

It is being worked on. See the above post!

Feel free to post your experiences but please refrain from telling the admins what they should do about it. This information has been communicated to the admin of the forum (different from the moderators, by the way) and it is being worked on. When we find out anything we will post back with what we know.

We are very much close to removing them as a sponsor. The main issue being that even I can not contact the owner. This puts us in a awkward position.

1. Yo! Newbie Mod! Chill out!
2. Unless I woke up in the USSR ca 1954, and you're Josef Stalin, posters here can pretty much say what they want as long as they conform to the rules on the board. Canada (and to a lesser extent the USA), are still Semi-Free nations, last I checked.
3. I don't THINK those rules include "don't tell Mods what to do..."

The people in this thread, and the OLDER one that was locked (and why lock the older one...), had money at risk and have been pushing for over a MONTH to get some action...to no avail. They are trying to help..not jeoopardize someones empire. These posters asked for something to be done for a LONG TIME and NOTHING happened. If they are mad, frustrated, upset.. Deal with it. It's their right.

Ignore/discount the posters that make this site alive, then you're just posting spasticlly. The people make the site..not the Mods.

Understood?

Do I don't understand. Posts like this are not helpful at all. The admin posted below, why did you have to post this now. Nevermind, see you in a few days.
