Default SMS when no network available ?? 7100T

Please Login to Remove!

Yet another SMS related question ? (I've made several searches before posting)
I've found to write email useful when no network is available and it goes whenever GPRS back alive.

But it's somewhat annoying to write a long SMS but if there is no network it fails right away. And you need to look out to be in network and choose to resend.
Is there a way to correct this behaivor on 7100T(mobile) ??

Thanks in Advance,

I think that is the nature of SMS messages isn't it. It is RIM's design that queues the messages for you and sends them when in coverage so you don't have to worry about it. SMS is a Carrier thing not a RIM thing.

two totally differnt types of messages with totally different delivery mechanisms, that is why. Blackberry is email. SMS is a carrier thing not a Blackberry thing. You get SMS because the Blackberry happens to have a cell phone that is all. SMS has nothing to do with Blackberry.

Yeah, I understand but it happens in blackberry when network is not available. BB should be able to understand that there is no service at the time
I hit send button just like it does on web browsing. It asks me when the network is not available whether I'd like to download the page or not when it is available. It has nothing to do with provider this all happens in BB.
I'd expect the same behaviour that's all. So you keep sending offline msgs. and when you're in covarage they all go you get a nice report.
I guess this is too much...

I noticed I get "packet" error messages on my 7100g even when I have GPRS coverage and also when I'm out of all coverage. I forgot the exact error but it's happend a few times.

Why not just send the SMS as e-mail?

Ok it's a good idea but can you explain more
what are the options setting this on 7100T?

For ex. it's not possible to reply on incoming sms unless you go and change the address as an email. I'm trying to simplify the process not make it more complex. I'm not even sure I can really send sms msg via email.

BTW, don't get me wrong I appreciate your input.
I'm just thinking loudly here.

Thanks,

I know i'm a little late here.....

My old Nokia 3650 used to keep retrying sending SMS msg's until it got network back for a certain amount of time. I noticed though that if more than an hour went by it would eventually give up....

So it is possible!

Thanks in Advance,
there is no way to *correct* "By design" behaviour
You CAN NOT send an SMS from a normal mobile phone if you do not have service!
How could a BlackBerry Be any different?

you can save an SMS draft while you are not on the network.
But Obviously, just like making a call, you NEED network coverage to send anything.
