What error message do you receive? Does the 8700 also have BIS email accounts associated with it?

the funny part is that when he types a new email address he get's a red cross in front of the email

when he reply to an email which he received, it works

ok, what is the error message? Open the failed message and report back the error.

Unable to send email message replies using a different service than the email message was received on

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Doc ID : KB11235
Last Modified : 2007-08-15
Document Type : Support

Print this page

Environment
BlackBerry® smartphone

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Problem
A BlackBerry smartphone can be provisioned for two types of service:

BlackBerry® Enterprise Server
BlackBerry® Internet Service
When replying to email messages using your BlackBerry smartphone, you are unable to choose the type service you want to use to send the reply.

By default, the BlackBerry smartphone automatically sends the email message reply using the service used to receive the email message.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cause
This is by design. The BlackBerry smartphone attempts to reference the original email message information on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server or BlackBerry Internet Service in order to minimize wireless traffic.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Workaround
Instead of replying to the email message, forward the email message to the intended recipient and select the desired service you want to use to forward the email message (BlackBerry Internet Service or BlackBerry Enterprise Server).

By forwarding the email message, the BlackBerry smartphone will reference information stored in the BlackBerry smartphone internal memory instead of attempting to retrieve the original email message.

so do you suggest to reset the blackberry en reconnect it ? it was previously connected to another BES but normally that shouldn't matter.

the person is outside the country at the moment. is there a way to solve this remotely ?

regards

did you wipe it before activating on a different BES?
it could also be that it HAD BIS and BES services active and now only BES and the BIS service books are still in the phone. (that's why you should wipe if that's the case)
