Default Latest: 8130 OS 4.5.0.295/4.5.0.175 Multilanguage ESN devices

Please Login to Remove!

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.5.0.295 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 4.5.0.295
Consisting of:
Applications: 4.5.0.175
Software Platform: 3.4.0.55
File name: 8130uAMEA_PBr4.5.0_rel295_PL3.4.0.55_A4.5.0.175_Sp rint_L.P.exe
File size: 88.01MB

Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

Download

Instructions for installing on ANY carrier's 8130:

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml." Vista/Win7 users: In the apploader folder, simply click on "Compatibility files" to see the actual Vendor.xml file. Once you've got that - simply delete the vendor.xml file there (even if you've deleted or think you've deleted it in the folder previously) and voila, it will allow you to update to the newly installed OS!
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

How to determine if you have an ESN or MEID based device.
From the main menu, select Options, then select Status.
ESN devices - On the Status screen you will see ESN on the display
MEID devices xxx8211; On the Status screen you will see MEID on the display.
NOTE xxx8211; You cannot install ESN-based software on a MEID device, nor can you install MEID-based software on an ESN device. They are NOT interchangeable.

So besides the music player icon loss, any bugs or any major pros?

no issues for me so far.

i actually ended up fixing my missing icon issue, by falling back to the previous OS, removing the theme, upgrading to .175, & then re-installing the theme

Wow... did that solution come intuitively? Haha

I'm still waiting on positive feedback (preferably advantages over 4.5.0.169) before I take the plunge.

lol....the music player icon is crucial, since i use my phone for playin mp3's daily. any theme i use has gotta have it!

pretty positive for .175. i had one call when i got the speakerphone blast, but it has only happened once. i will keep my eye on it. I also had a minor issue after install where it couldn't restore some setting for doc's-2-go...it flashed the error, but i don't recall the exact message. It may have been the registration information, as when i went to upgrade i had to re-register. but other than that, it's all good.

Has anyone else had trouble loading web apps with this OS? My Facebook app, and another for the Globe and Mail don't want to load anymore. And my browser is super-slow. :(

there is some type or rumored BIS outage that seems to be affecting some people, in some areas, doing certain things. I wonder if that was the issue.

Obviously I don't have anything better to do than update my phone...installed just fine and everything seems to work OK except still leaking memory. Gives me about 17 Meg after a battery pull, down to 13.9 two days later.

Your memory will always go down. Application caches, SMS, MMS, Phone longs, new calander entries and internet usage all take the memory down till they are cleared out. That is not too bad for 2 days worth of use.

4.5.0.169 handled memory better, i.e. less memory went down for about the same usage.

Actually I've had way better memory usage with 4.5.0.173 then I did with the previous build.
Ah the mysteries of technology
