I think it is the device memory that is being referred to and you can find that if you go to Options | Status | File Free.

options - memory
this shows Application Memory Free.
This is where a memory leak would happen.
A memory leak is an application that causes that app memory free to decrease rapidly, say to 0 in a few hours.

Do a battery pull. You should also uninstall the apps causing the memory leak (sometimes it is running in the background which causes memory leaks, so make sure you close it).

You can't stop the leaks. They are caused by poorly written applications. All you can do is follow the memory optimization threads (stickied) and reset the BlackBerry occasionally.

From my 2month experience with BB, the ebst way to keep the RAM in check is to remove unwanted languages, get rid of unused apps (eg Google talk) or any crappy themes, and a reset every few days or so...

All of this is great information found in John Clark's excellent memory management thread.

Get QuickPull Pro that will allow you to set a memory level threshold. Once the threshold is reached, it will request if you would like to reset the device which is just like pulling the battery.

One thing I've noticed is that every time I do a battery pull or soft reset, my file free is about 200k less than last time, even if I clear browser cache, call log, sent messages etc. Strange, why???
