If you are using an 8700 with Cingulars's o/s then u can adjust the volume of the ringer by adjusting the volume if the speakerphone in-call =)

Confusing thread. The Speakerphone setting is a fix for a bug in Cingular's software. It doesn't realy improve volume control (although I suppose it could be used to set volume in fine increments... That's putting the silliness factor at maximum. ) It won't work for T-Mobile since the 8700g runs OS .284 which doesn't have that bug.
