the unlock code on a bell phone is usually the last four digits of the telephone number assigned to the phone.

example, if the phone number of the blackberry is 416-885-1234, then the unlock code is 1234..

Not correct. The unlock code has to be specifically generated for each device and is definitely not a 4 digit number tied to the phone number. You may be able to get an unlock code from your carrier (some provide it, others do not) or you can purchase one from a service such as Horizon Wireless Online, one of our forum sponsors.

Keep in mind that the GSM frequencies on the 8830 will not work with North American GSM carriers and unlocking does nothing for a CDMA device as many carriers will not allow phones from other CDMA carriers on their networks.

last time I checked it is the last 4 digits of your cell phone number.. that's to unlock the phone..

but where as you mean unlocking the phone so that you can use it with another carrier, that's not possible with a bell phone.. from my knowledge at least

You can unlock the GSM side to use with a GSM carrier outside of North America. I assumed that is what the OP was asking about.

As for the CDMA to sun on another CDMA carrier, AFAIK, there is no unlocking. Most CDMA carriers will only allow their own branded devices on their networks, i.e. no sprint device on the Verizon network, etc.

Describe what you mean by "unlocking". Unlock the SIM (which you CANNOT, CANNOT use on AT&T/T-Mobile), resetting the password, or trying to get your X device on Y company.

Alright well basically i have a bell 8830 world edition phone, i am currently with rogers. people say you can not unlock it because it has no sim card, but it actually does have a bell sim card in it. when i put my rogers sim card inside the phone it says that its an invalid sim card. is it possible to use it ?

Q.) Can I unlock the 8830 to be used on ATT (cingular) or T-Mobile? (Rogers)
A.) NO. The 8830xxx8217;s GSM operates in the 900 / 1800 Mhz band where as T-Mo and AT&T use 850 / 1900 in the united states (and Canada). You can not do ANYTHING to make this work. If you want a 8800 series, buy the 8800 or 8820 which is GSM.

=============================

The Bell sim card is used to work overseas.
