Default bluetooth picture transfer speed very slow

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,

A little background, my Perl 8100 walked away from me, and never came back. I bought a 8110 to replace it and reinstalled the new desktop manager that came with the phone.

I installed a transcend 8 Gig HC card, (the 8100 had the same but 4 Gig) and use the phones video and picture taking ability a lot at work.

My complaint is the 8110 is slower than molasses in January to transfer pictures via Bluetooth to my laptop.

1) The 8100 I could set up a secure bluetooth connection, the 8110 won't let me make that secure connection. I have to select "Allow for 30 minutes only" transfers every time.

2) Picture transfer speed is rarely the same twice. Rarely I can transfer a picture in 10 seconds, sometimes it starts out fast, then hits the brakes and takes ten minutes to transfer the rest of the of the picture. Most of the time it takes 20 minutes or more to transfer a picture. The 8100 didn't have this issue at all?

3) transferring via desktop manager and usb cable is no faster.

the phone is set up to not use the internal memory, and saves all media on the transcend card. Other than about 40 pictures, there is no other media on the phone.

The phone software is version 4.5.90.110 (platform 2.7.0.90)
Desktop manager version 5.0.1.28 (Nov 11, 09)
The software updater says I have the latest versions installed.

a) I've gone over my computer many times and can't find anything that would cause the slowdown.

b) I've read elsewhere pulling out and reinstalling the battery will fix this issue, well it does not!

c) The phone is only a few feet away from the computer.

Any ideas how to fix this?

Wirelessly posted (8520 (5.0.0.411))

Try it with another pc and see if it's the device or computer.

Did that, it's a problem with the phone, the phone software or the desktop manager. What the problem is, I don't know.

any other ideas?

There seems to be lack of any real feedback here.

Are these forums administered by community support, or is there anybody from blackberry who can actually communicate with the software writers? or provide other in-depth diagnostic information??

Bluetooth is significantly slower than using the USB connection. If you have a lot of Pictures or video to transfer it would make far more sense to use the USB cable.

Thumbs down thats a crappy answer

Everybody knows that bluetooth is slower than USB or any wired connections. But the bluetooth file transfer on the BlackBerry Bold is not just slow but super slow when compared to other smart phones. I've never seen or expected such a slow bluetooth transfer from blackberry.
