I don't recall whether you have tried deleting the account on BIS and adding it back again. Have you tried that. Also, have you seen adkalra's posts? He or she has found the sync working when using the old yahoo mail but not in the new yahoo mail. Go figure, but you might see for yourself if you haven't alreay. Other than that...I don't know.

Ok, did that just now. The Yahoo icon now has a Y by it. Sync didn't work yet, but I guess I need to wait the 20 minutes before I see it. Thanks for taking the time to help me here.
edit to add: doesn't work over an hour later. Gmail doesn't come instantly anymore. It's coming every 10 to 15 minutes instead. Dang, this sucks. Will 4.2 fix this?
