Then right click this file, and rename it to net_rim_bb_medialoader_8830.cod. Now use the command line option in jl_cmdr to load this file onto your blackberry. Once you do this, a battery pull should restore all your tones. Let me know if any of this is not clear for you and ill try to give more details.
This worked for me. Good to have the default sounds and ringtones back on there. I didn't notice they were gone until after I left the office. Needless to say it was a mysteriously quiet night. :p

I seem to have lost my vibrate function. I also have been unsuccessful in getting the ringtones on. It was vibrating ok this morning, but has stopped. I pulled the battery and got nothing. MY DM is not loading the ring tone file from .51. To top it off my work PC blue screened today. This is just not my day.

EDIT - In my frustration I forgot to remove the vendor.xml file again. I have ringtones at least now.

Yeah I got it working. I just have no patience today. But vibrate came back after I put the ringtones on. Very odd.

floz23 the file rename worked for me to get my ring tones back, I did have to reboot with a three fingered salute

wirelesstdot my hidden icons stayed hidden, sorry about your luck

visortgw thanks for tip about Sheets To Go, but it doesn't work for me, when I attempt to download the update I get HTTP Error 503: Service Unavailable and buried in the details it says Unable to determine IP address from host name for download2.dataviz.com. The dnsserver returned: Name Error: The domain name does not exist.

I fixed my own problem. The download page had a link to a file that doesn't exist. It had:

download2.dataviz.com/documentstogo/blackberry/documentstogo1002/documentstogo.jad

As a guess I removed the "2" from the server name and it worked. I just put this into the BB browser:

download.dataviz.com/documentstogo/blackberry/documentstogo1002/documentstogo.jad

Also you have to do a three fingered salute once the upgrade finishes or the Word To Go and Slideshow To Go icons wont be there.

Hi Folks,

I'm going to upgrade to this beta from release v4.2.2.176 (Bell Mobility release). I've searched the previous install folder but cannot find the net_rim_bb_medialoader_qualcomm.cod file anywhere. Would this have been called something different in this release, or do I need to find it somewhere else?

Any help greatly appreciated.

You need to get the file from a previous 4.5 installation. You're on 4.2. I got mine from the 4.5.0.51 install I had on there previously.

I just upgraded from .51 to .77 on my Verizon Wireless 8830 and forgot to delete the vendor.xml file on this install. Will this cause any issues?

For those of you running .77 on Verizon, does your email render HTML? I'm using BIS for email and I don't see any HTML rendering... maybe VZW hasn't upgraded to 2.5 yet.

Wirelessly posted

The BIS 2.5 should have effected everyone. Have you tried resending your sevice books or re-adding your email accounts?

Thanks Steve, that did the trick... now that it's up and running, I may do the same thing to my wife's 8330.

Wow... It does seem to be noticably louder on this version for the 8830

Niiiiice.....

I seem to notice that when I'm deleting an email, it doesn't offer the chance to delete on server anymore. Resent all my book and updated the accounts on BIS... Interesting. Anyone else have this?

Or am I missing something?

I took the plunge and installed this Beta on my Beta my 8830.

Messed around with it for a few hours and went back to 4.2.2 (I didn't find anything wrong with 4.5 but I am going to upgrade to a Curve and I don't want 4.5 to interfere the switch device wizard.)

I think it's pretty cool, the HTML email was nice change (not perfect but it was still awesome), Voice Notes!!, Doc 2 Go Thank god, the Browser looks very nice as well very noticabe difference and I could watch YouTube!!.

Can't wait for the official release. (If Only I didn't lose all my tests inside of Cram during the upgrade 4 Cisco tests with a bunch of questions )
