They're the AT&T GSM customers that got grandfathered into Cingular after the acquisition, AT&T had blue logo. Cingular Orange are direct then and current Cingular customers. At one point, AT&T was running on CDMA & GSM.

Thanks again for your contributions. Does it have the BlackBerry Chat program on it? Also any idea if it will fit in the 72XX series cradles? That is if you have one.

Not all of them. Some of them need to be, some works out of the box.

Seeing as they just got a 7100, I'm sure it will be sometime soon :P

Reason for not handing them out
Could this be the reason they were not handed out. Your rep needs to determine which one to send to you.

I am so, SO glad they put some good looking themes on there. That default Cingular one is the ugliest thing I've ever seen.
Thanks for the great pics! How about one or two of the device in the holster?

Ok will post some in holster. Older holsters will not work its a new kind of holster the way the device is held in it.

Let's hope so, but I have a feeling it may never be released for Cingular Blue customers...That would force everyone to migrate. I doubt that will happen though. Too many NBO customers to piss off and lose money.
Of course, there is no reason these phones should be locked between AT&T and Cingular in the first place. It is a pain esp when the box says cingular, the device says cingular, but a cingular sim will not work!

Hmm, well maybe a batch is unlocked. Do you have a Cingular SIM card you can try in it? The reason I ask is, I have a Cingular Blue (AT&T) 7100g that is cingular branded, but only the AT&T sim works. The Cingular will not. Same with a 7290. It says Cingular but must be simlocked to old Blue SIM cards

In the name of asking dumb obvious questions, since AT&T is Cingular now, wouldnt they exchange the SIM if a "blue" SIM did'nt work? Would'nt they be trying to phase out the AT&T customers and migrate these people over to full Cingular customers, no?
As far as all the questions about when (insert service here) will get the phone, it seems pretty obvious that a large promo for the 8700 in in the works from Cingular, I would guess that Cingular worked it out that they will be the sole Provider for at least a few months (ala Treo / Sprint) - Look how many people T-Mobile has tricked into their service with a desired product.

Boy Genius Is the screen under plastic as the 7100? Or is like the 72xx series?
From the pictures it looks as if it is under plastic.
