Other than you entering the incorrect user name, it may be a different FTP protocol flavor than the one currently supported by the program.
What you can do is check the log file and post it here.

BeFTP 1.0 now official
BeFTP 1.0 is no longer available for beta download, it is official.
The over-the-air download is still available from our mobile site (mobile.beiks.com) and the desktop distributives should be also available soon through the BeFTP page on our main website.
With BeFTP being used for wireless transmissions, we anticipate and actually push towards installing over the air rather than through a desktop.

Default settings, going against the default sever (Beiks). This is what I always get:
*** Trying to open socket...
*** Connected, authorizing...
*** Wrong username

The connection is being cancelled by your carrier before the FTP server sends anything.
BeFTP first waits for the server to send "220 <welcome text>".
Then sends the username and waits for "331 <text info about password>"
Finally, sends the password and waits for "230 <log-in success message>".
In your case, when BeFTP waits for "220 <...>", you get quickly disconnected. I think we might solve it by sending the username immediately. An update will follow shortly.

What plans do you have to provide external media card support for the BEIKS BlackBerry dictionary databases? Since I moved from an 8703e to the 8830, I no longer have enough available free device memory to load the English Gold Dictionary and the English Thesaurus.

Not sure about the other dictionaries, but media card support for Beiks Noah Bible Viewer is available. See this thread: http://www.blackberryforums.com/afte...eader-4-a.html
Very nice program.

It's my understanding that Beiks will be entering into beta testing for their dictionaries on the media card soon! So hold on a bit longer and I am sure they will be available once they finish testing. I have no affiliation with them, but I was in the beta testing for Noah. It didn't take too long once they started the testing for them to make the final release, only a month or so. I have no idea if the dictionaries will be the same, but we can sure hope so.
I, like you, can hardly wait! I can't use any of their dictionaries now, I just don't have the room. I miss some of them from my old Palm days, especally the Bible related ones.

Ok, I feel like a complete idiot, since no one else has yet brought this up, but I can't figure out how to choose a destination folder to download to. I have an 8700c, which does not have an options button. Typically a wheel-click does this contextually, but in BeFTP, that instantly opens any selected folder. Ultimately I end up with a single folder view with .. as the only selectable choice. I've tried holding Alt and clicking and using just about every key and key combo I can think of. Any guidance would be appreciated, thanks!

BeFTP for the Curve
I've tried everything to get this program to work on my Curve. Has anyone had success in running the program on a 8320 - TMobile. If so, how do I set it up?

Pearl 8130 fails to connect to BEIKS FTP client
As with others, with my BB Pearl 8310 I have had no success connecting to BEIKS FTP client (v1 successfully installed OTA): "Could not connect to the FTP server"
I have enable logging but it is not logging any information (log empty even after dozens of failed attempts).
I have tried all FTP connection methods, to no avail.
However, in my attempt to connect to a test HTTP, I receive the following result:
***Trying to open socket to port 80 of beiks.com
***Socket-connection failure: java.io.IOException: Invalid tunnel name
Now, I received similar java.io errors recently, and resolved this through my carrier, vodafone UK; I am now able to access all websites uninhibited (vodafone UK no longer attempts distinction between its defined permissible sites and the rest). In short, I have open access to all web sites, except via BEIKS FTP.
I would be grateful to learn if there is any setting to adjust, and/or what exact query I need to make to my mobile carrier (vodafone UK) to see if any bar can be removed. Many thanks.

BeFtp not working with Bold
I have a BB Bold. Rogers. No BES. WiFi connected. Ver 1.0 of BeFTP.
I cannot even open Beiks Public FTP. "Could not connect to the FTP server".
I have tried different connection methods, no luck. The same error.
This is a new phone. Have I forgotten to turn something on?

I like some previous posters, have experienced the problem when connecting to a personal ftp server (in my case my home desktop running cerberus ftp server), of it connects, but all you get is the root folder with no files, just the .. to go to the parent folder. I'm pretty sure that this is because the client is attempting a passive connection, which the server doesn't support (Indeed, looking at the log, I saw a PASV command). I've had this same problem with other clients, and I just changed the connection settings to not use passive mode. That doesn't seem to be an option for this client; are there any plans to add this option?

I downloaded the free version of Be ftp to my Blackberry 8330. I went to a server that I manage and viewed the files in a folder. (My intention was to see if I could change the name of a file and delete a file. This would allow me to update the index.htm file from the existing version to a new version previously uploaded with a name like indexnew.htm.) Problem was not all files in the folder show up on the menu. Specifically index.htm was not visible although I am certain it exists. What gives?
