While the BB alarm is lacking, $30 for a replacement app is goddamn highway robbery. I don't think I paid more than $99 for my entire BlackBerry.

I was thinking the same thing. I too went through the phase off thinking the one misstep on my (new) 8330 was a simplistic Alarm app. [My old VZ5300 had a very useful 3-alarm app.] Until I realized I could use Tasks with audio reminders (on the 8330 these start with the day, but go down to the minute...good enuf!) to do the same thing...literally...I have 3 Tasks setup as 'placeholders', called Alarm 1-3 waiting to be timer-programmed. The trick is to ALSO go into the 8330 Profiles and modify (if necessary, I needed to) how Task timers are utilized within that profile. Thankfully, that's a set-once-and-forget operation.

Other than that, these task-alarms might be slightly more tedious to set up, but it does the job for me well enough that I'll get used to it.

hth someone else?

I agree that $30 for a 1-trick pony is too much. (Captive audience?) I happened to find an alternative when looking for such an app.

Check my reply in another thread for the option: http://www.blackberryforums.com/afte...ml#post1173752
