I do agree this is quite a cool looking device, but let's not forget why we learned to love this fruit.
The smaller size is quite alluring. If there's not much of a speed sacriface with the fewer keys, I'm all for it.

Does anyone know if the 7100t can be purchased from t-mobile without subscribing to a BB plan? My intention would be to purchase the phone and get it unlocked to operate it on Rogers. Does anyone think that's possible?

I'm sure you can buy it without a BB plan, but you'll have some barriers to cross. You'll have to enter into some sort of contract voice plan, though. Also, you'll have to find some way to unlock it. T-Mo will probably do this for you themselves, but you'll have to wait at least a month.

Yeah, my guess is without BB running, you're going to miss out on a lot of funtionality. Good luck!!

All right then, I'll let anyone who wants one know. I don't think I could deal with the two letters on one pad deal, but that's just me.

Why is there such a huge price differential between this device -- $299, versus the 7700 series -$499? Are the 7700's overpriced, given that everyone thinks this device is superior?

I presume that RIM or T-Mobile is willing to subsidise the price in their hopes to break into the consumer market.

this is a consumer marker vs business market debate. There is several products and services which have a great difference in price based on the market. Busineses make money. Consumers spend money, so do Busineses... but the use of the product is not necessarily producing income/productivity.

Also this is a next generation BlackBerry which obviously was a complete redesign in terms of so many things, they may have lowered the cost of production through new technology.
