This solution does not yet exist. It's "planned" for the end of 2008, but as of now, there is no solution. In fact, there is no guarantee it will ever exist, just that it is planned. NJBlackberry was right: there still is no solution. Only the dream of one.

I don't know why but I was thinking about this "future solution" and had a good laugh. I got this picture in my mind of a realtor standing at the front door with clients talking on a bluetooth headset, trying to pair the state of the art bluetooth to IR converter and freaking out.

I know, time to go back on the meds.

Not really. I personally don't care either but I'm not in real estate. However, agents with BB's do care and there are a fair number of them.

About as quaint as BT GPS pucks but plenty of people seem to be happy using them as well.

You'd think that GE would just go BT for the Supra locks.

Nonsense.

Rumored release dates are just as good as the real thing around here...

Default Happy!

This is great news. I'm a recent BB convert from the Palm OS platform. Carrying a BT/IR FOB on my key chain is better than carrying around another device that has to be charged, hooked up and sync'ed.

Supra needs to simply introduce a combo IR/Bluetooth keybox.

ITA! We have our Supra E Key exchange tomorrow and I wish my dang cellphone was compatable. I'd rather add the $25 to my cell bill monthly rather a new device to carry and charge.

Just got off the phone with GE security in Ottawa and they are sending out the first batch of Ekeys to the British Columbia Real Estate board within a weeks time... so they said. My father was in his Telus store (his as in the one he deals with) and he was #5 on the list to receive one of the 5 Storms that came in. He called me up and said "Hey, this thing wont work on the Real Estate boxes" ... I called around and asked a few engineers and Beta testers about this. Geeze! My Father has the potential of owning a BB Storm but is holding back the sale because Ekey is not in place yet. He then asked me "So, do you think that in 1-2 months time, there shouldnt be a problem with stock and I can get a Storm when the Ekey is released?" I responded with "Buy it now, and just get the cheap remote in the meantime. But then he told me how it was going to cost... ouch. Thats when I said, yea, hold off.

Default Also a Realtor with Blackberry

I am glad to see that I am not the only one with a Blackberry(Curve 8330) and not being able to work with the Supra Key. I now carry my old Tungston C to JUST open lockboxes, and my phone. I am holding out hope that my Tungston battery will keep charging until a fix for this issue is found.
I was told when I purchased my Blackberry in August that GE was working on a device to convert bluetooth to open the boxes, but not until the end of the year. Again the old saying, "I will beleve it when I see it". If my Tungston C battery dies, then I will have no alternative than to buy the Active EKey and carry it. I would never go to a Palm phone, the Blackberry being my 1st is very reliable and I can do so much with it.
Oh well, lets all keep our fingers crossed for something from GE soon.
Thank you!
