No WiFi Curve for this codemonkey -- I have plain ol' vanilla 8300, unlocked, running on TMo.

Ah well. I imagine 4.3 will be out from several carriers soon...

AFAIK, there is no newer OS than that. TMo won't be releasing one, because they didn't/don't have the 8300.

That's been my fear. I should be glad that they're at least providing the service books I need. I'll have to wait for other carriers who DO sell the 8300 in order to get the latest OS when 4.3 comes out.

Interesting internal debate going on related to this:

- One thought is that, by getting 8320, I'll always get the latest version that TMo publishes -- even if it's not yet available in an 8300 version

- Other thought, though, is that relatively few carriers will have 8320 compared to 8300. As a result, combined with T-Mobile's tendency to go slow with new firmware releases (historically), I wonder if 8300 releases will, generally speaking, be more recent than 8320 releases (i.e., be at later version numbers)

Hey all, after I installed the OS and plugged in my 8320 I was greeted with the below:

What do y'all think, accept and let if fly? Or maybe... cancel, full backup, unplug/replug and then let if fly?

Why is it that I keep wanting to hit the "Cancel" button every time I view this page?

Here are the edited .alx files for themes and BBMaps ( for later AT&T devices)

Additionally, there are .alx's (& .cod's) for all the new IM apps. They were each vendor coded to TMo (vendor id 100) in the .alx files. I removed the vendor ID's for later use on other carrier 8320's when they come out.

*It might be possible to extract the .cod's for the IM apps and load them onto the other Curves, however, I don't have one to try it on.

I downloaded, installed and created the .alx's already. Must be something on your end.

I also get the 10MB file, as well. Strange. I tried clearing my Browser cache and still no luck. Just glad I don't actually have the device or need the OS yet. I am sure it will get resolved soon.

The look the same as the other 8300 themes. But I don't have a device to load them too.

OK here's the answer -- this dialog box is because during the initial on-device setup wizard I chose to keep US English and nothing else. It appears, though, "parts" were left behind and I had half Spanish junk and some UK English junk still sitting on the device.

If you get this dialog, choose Cancel. Start the Application Loader and in the dialog for selections, de-select the leftover UK English display support and the Spanish Input Methods; the apploader will then erase the leftover COD files off your device and reboot it. Quit all of the Desktop Manager, unplug your device and plug it back in - now when you start Desktop Manager you will no longer get this dialog.

I now have ~2meg more free on my phone, and (finally!) ALT+ENTER will lock my keyboard instead of bringing up the stupid Input Switcher popup.

EDIT: for the record I have 17meg free now with all my regular 3rd party apps installed: jivetalk, mail by google, google mail, google maps, freerange, logicmail, midpssh, syncje, autolock
