Hi Everyone,
I came across this problem today after a reboot. I'm running BES 5.01 and no changes have been made but this issue started happening out of the blue. So the error I am getting is:
(04/27 13:27:21:773):{main} [org.apache.coyote.http11.Http11Protocol] [INFO] Initializing Coyote HTTP/1.1 on http-SERVER_DNS_ALIAS%2F10.192.1.225-18180
(04/27 13:27:21:820):{main} [org.apache.coyote.http11.Http11Protocol] [ERROR] Error initializing endpoint
java.net.BindException: Address already in use: JVM_Bind:443
I looked thru this article and didn't get very far but knew to look at port 443. At the same time I opened a ticket with RIM. After talking to a tech who only knew how to read queue cards we found a workaround article RIM had on the error above. The key to this was
Address already in use: JVM_Bind:443".
The tech had me stop the BAS application service and change the port used by HTTPS to 663 instead of 443. When I restarted the service and change the BAS URL to include :663 in the webaddress it started working. He checked with an upper level tech on the root cause and came back with it being a firewall issue. Well that wasn't a good answer in my case. So after getting off the phone with the tech I ran some more tests. The test that resulted in the most clues was netstat
C:\>netstat -an | findstr 443
TCP 0.0.0.0:443 0.0.0.0:0 LISTENING
This indicated to me that 443 isn't listening properly.
So next thing I do is check to see if IIS was holding port 443 and sure enough it was. I disabled the IIS server and set back BAS to 443 and then started the service again.
This time the netstat returned
C:\>netstat -an | findstr 443
TCP 10.192.x.x:443 0.0.0.0:0 LISTENING
Tested the BAS console and it works. Hope this helps.
