I just upgraded to a new BB 8520, would anything on this phone open up any new privacy concerns?

It's been almost a year since anyones updated the list below so I thought i'd reach out to the BES guru's to see if anything new has changed on the BES end of things that would now allow the admins to see more.

What syncs/is stored/is accessed by the BES includes:
- Corporate email
- Corporate calendar
- Corporate PIM data (address book, memo pad, tasks)
- Browser bookmarks
- Password Keeper data (although this cannot be accessed in any way, even when restored to another document, without the PK password)
- PIN messaging data (including the actual message sent/received)
- Phone call data (date/time of call, number called/received, length of call)
- Text message data (including the actual verbage of the text message)
- Blackberry Messenger data (this one is extremely klunky to get and I don't know a single BES Admin that turns this one on)

What I can't see:
- BIS email messages (I *might* be able to see what service books you have, but cannot read the messages)
- 3rd party IM messages (Yahoo!, MSN, etc)

That's all I can think of for now.... I'm quite sure someone else will chime in.

Just to add - I do agree with your stance of "If you have a concern about what can be seen, either don't connect your device to the BES or don't do something you know will get you in trouble".

What can be logged on the BES is determined by the BES version. In BES 5.0 the ability to log BBMessenger conversations was made much easier - just like the logging of text and PIN messaging was in 4.1.x.

So when messaging with 3rd party apps like yahoo and MSN live, is thgis still something that cannot be seen?

Another thing i was curious about that would be great if someone could answer; does BES have the ability to remote monitor, much like an admin can on a desktop PC?

Question: I have my OWN blackberry device that I pay for from before I joined my current employer (and I expense the monthly phone bill to my company). It runs corporate email on a BES server. I have also set up a gmail account on this device. Is the gmail running on BES or BIS? Are my gmail messages remaining private?? How about PIN to PIN messages? BBM? Thank you in advance for your help!

Gmail - BIS, although if you're using the gmail application, then it could be using BES to pipe the data through.

PIN - can be logged/read on BES.
BBM - these are just PIN messages, so yes, logged and readable.

My approach is - if it crosses my server, I log it. I've had too many run-ins with lawyers on e-discovery missions where "we don't capture that" doesn't work. I tell my users to assume I track everything except the content of voice calls (that would be wiretapping).

Could you please, let me know what a BES is?
What does it mean?
How do I access this feature?
Where in my BB a can find it?
And if other people within my phone plan can have access to my BB pin messages (My service provider is AT&T)
Sorry for my ignorance, :< thanks

It isn't considered good Forum manners to hijack a thread, particularly one that is over a year old.

And it helps if you search first.
