I choose to eat as much organic as I can

but Ill eat most any food presented to me

I think if one eats more fruits and vegetables and more importantly more unprocessed foods, then that would be healthier than worrying about whether or not it's organic. But I'm with you ez, I like food too. My wife made her oatmeal chocolate chip cookies tonight. They are best fresh out of the oven.

I agree, there is alot of it that is certainly a marketing ploy but they have to do it in order to compete I think. I do shop at the local farmers markets when I can and I enjoy the experience of meeting the farmers, it adds to the experience to me.

No doubt. It's the capitalist way. If farmers can make more money on their produce because it is certified organic, then they will find a way to do it. It does cost more to produce an acre of organic vegetables compared to an acre of conventionally grown vegetables. But if there's a market niche, then it will be exploited.

Well all I know is the organic tomatoes I eat taste 10 times better than regular store bought.

It might be because they are vine ripened. The tomatoes you buy in the store are picked green and gassed to turn them red.

I also enjoy the free range eggs and grass fed beef as well, the taste is better to me.

Maybe so, all I know is they are better to me. So I will pay more for them, it has nothing to do with being better in nutrition.

Right. Gets back to the good ol' capitalist system we so cherish. You will pay more. Therefore the farmer will make more money. Therefore he is inclined to produce more. Everybody is happy.

Lol! No kidding. That company really should be so heavily fined that they are forced out of business. The peanut producing industry will suffer greatly due to the actions of one company's unethical lapse.

I guess some regulation is ok then? I hear on the news they are going to prosecute the peanut plant because they knew it was tainted and still sent it out.

or how about the chinese food products that come in with melamine in them so they can boost the protein content. equally as bad.

You have no idea how much regulation we have in growing and processing the food supply here in the US. I'm not saying it's over regulation, but it's a well regulated segment of the economy. And I think that's a good thing.
