Hi Cory,
I actually think I resolved the issue. Just spoke with tech. support and they said that their system showed I had an old SIM card and didn't change it when I got a 3G phone. I just swapped it and no issues thus far.

One could force the Bold to EDGE to see how reliable it is when forced to stay on EDGE...

When I changed to the Bold I took out my Sim card from my curve & handed over to add to the Bold & was told it wouldn't work. Apparently (as I was told) the 3G Sim cards use a different sequence of numbers in the 2nd row.
Not sure if that is true but it sounded good to me. My guy there has been pretty bang on with all the various details, dates & issues, so I believe him.

So... any chance you could give us more information? Like, what causes the issue, how to fix it, specific to a particular OS release, etc ?

I would say it is because it's so fun checking out the new device, one will surf/call/email/photo/video/gps their way to a low battery. But that is just a guess

I was surfing I got a low memory warning. It automatically launched the setup wizard to delete unused languages which even after deleting every other language, showed zero application memory available.
I cleared the browser cache etc.. still no RAM.
Shutdown and battery pull gave me back ~36MB....but not before a looong reboot locked into a black screen with a solid red LED.

This thread is very disappointing. After the supposed delays, how can there still be these types of problems. Memory leaks have been around for the last few generations of OS, and they still can't get it nipped. Unacceptable imho.

Agreed. I have a feeling many people will start having issues with the Bolds. Not because the product is terrible, just because it's not 100% yet. Random restarts, and the "Searching for Network..." issues when you are in a mid-to-low 3G coverage area will definitely piss some people off.

Memory leaks have been around since the day of the first computer, and likely will be around forever. It's a combination of how good an OS is at reclaiming released memory, and even more so, how good is an application at releasing ALL memory allocated to it.

i turn off 3G when im not browsing anyhow, to save battery and keep my MB down. I had to fight Rogers for my $700 back after 3 days using the 3G iPhone last month - not doing that again.
Aside from that, I upgraded to the latest OS and havent had issue. Im not really digging the new theme, i liked the old tmo theme on all my devices since the 8700... guess ill get used to it, but when they mix with my old apps it looks kinda, well, ghetto. BBWeather and MSN stick out like sore thumbs on there now, but I guess that will prob change over time.
Any word on UMA? I was told it will be sooner than predicted, but a little bit yet.

I went through this as well...
Discovered last night that its NOT the trackball. There is a thin plastic ridge that separates the screen from the trackball/bb/phone keys. If you run your inger over any part of this plastic separation it will squeek.

How would turning 3G off save on data usage? You either wait to see what your surfing for or not whether on faster 3G or slower EDGE. Also don't you have the 6GB data plan?
