Does anyone think that installing the Rogers update will solve this problem for me? While I wait for a new phone and cable, I am thinking about trying it.....

If you do, and it uses the drive letter that is next in line behind your installed devices then you will not be able to see the Mass Storage Device. You have to go into Disk Management and give it a different drive letter. This is a common occurance with removable media and Windows.
Excellent suggestion.. you sir get an I.T. brownie point!

this is also a problem if you have lots of network shares/drives that are placed on the computer via logon script/a.d. scripts.

I found that when I plug in my Blackberry it asks do I want to turn on Mass Storage Mode?

If I say "YES" it shows up in Windows as a Removable Drive but that the Destop Manager will not see the Media card nor can I go into Media on the Blackberry and see the card.

If I say "NO" then the Desktop Manager sees the card with Media Manager but Windows does not see the removeable drive.

I guess you can not have it both ways. Maybe someone can post the definative answer.

I'm the one with the other post on this. I spent 2 1/2 hours on a phone call with T-Mobile and RIM tech support on Friday.

Tried everything they could think of, and even a couple things I suggested that they hadn't thought of and we could not get it to work.

They want me to take it to a t-mobile store and see if I can try my sd card in a different blackberry or try a different sd card in my phone. I'm going to try and go do that today.

I also have the Sandisk 1GB card, but I doubt this is the problem. I bought the one they had at best buy on sale, just like a lot of other people on this forum did.

Thats not the problem! if you formated your card using the 8100 everything should work fine. If you have tried everything and it still won't work then the BB has a faulkt and needs to be replaced. sorry you had to go theough all this sounds like a pain

Posted all this in my thread, but basically. My card worked fine in a different 8100. So I'm getting the 8100 I have replaced.

Hooray... a happy ending. Kinda depressed to hear it was the phone. I like to think they all come from the factory in perfect working order. I know that is unrealistic on any product, but I like to think we can brainstorm and find a solution and in the end we fix it. So much pleasure I gotta have a cigarette and I don't even smoke.

Oh well..... another Pearl bites the dust.

Hey, do you have any videos to put on that chip to try it out? If not, let me know and I will post a few for you. Show it to the family playing video and maybe they will think you are only half-nuts.

Do you have a headset so you can play videos in stereo?

What does the family think? Only half-nuts?

A sample here for you:

Yes, I got the bb stereo headset; pretty good sound for a phone.

Now if only we could convince Audible to support the device... Do you recommend any other encoders besides super c? For palm devices, I use palm media studio. Neither of these options are perfect, but they do the job mostly after some trial and error.

Default 8800 Mass Storage/Media Card Issue

I recenty purchased a bberry 8800(I LUV IT) but I have had issues with file transfers to the media card. I have installed my media card, formatted it, turned on mass storage, set auto-enable to yes, installed my desktop manager with media manager and after fiddling for a while got the media tool to recognize my blackberry. The problem is that it only recognizes the device memory not the media card on my desktop. When connected by USB I cannot see the media card on EITHER my PC or blackberry, but when I disconnect I can see it again on my blackberry. Does that make any sense? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated...trying to put photos, video etc. on my blackberry...thanks!

I have the very same problem! Mass storage enabled, DM does not see my card but Visa does. Mass storage unenabled, DM sees my card, but not Visa.

Not a big deal. Just an interesting situation. Anyone have any suggestions or solutions or just "deal with it" .....
