The 8100 Smartphone software is no longer up there, can you use the Pearl Red or Maine Slate Blue software instead?

My audio isn't working. I had one very small mp3 play for a second and then it was mute. Nothing from other mp3s or movies.

I tried doing the upgrade on my TMobile Pearl last Friday and it crashed my device. I went back to the original TMobile .64 version and all was fine. Of course I have to have the latest and greatest so yesterday I tried this one again. All looked great until my alarm didn't go off this morning because of this issue. Subsequently I was late for work.

Anyone ever see this with this release or any previous releases? I have had the Cingular 71 release, the TIM, and Rogers releases and never experienced this. Any suggestions?

Talking No Problems... yet!

I am an AT&T customer and just loaded the new OS. Didn't take very long and have had no problems. So far, I haven't noticed any significant changes. I am glad to be using an AT&T OS on my AT&T phone.

I do have to agree w/ previous posts about the double typing issue...it is a pain the rear!

biggest thing tho is i used to have only 22mb when i would pull the battery now i have 30 after upgrading..all the same programs are installed as before
I can't find the goofy tmo myfav icons I used to have. Like I used a cartoon pic of the house for a home phone number.

Default Problem with Ringtone

I downloaded v. 4.2.1.154 for 8100 on AT&T.

My ringtone I used in the prior version was deleted and is not part of the new ringtones to select from. I used "ratrace" as my prior ringtone.

How can I get my ringtone back?

Still the same ... this really sucks, and i've mentioned that several times when we had meeting with RIM reps. No action so far :-/

Bottom line.

How long is the hour glass supposed to be up?
For future reference, pulling power on a flash upgrade of ANYTHING is not a good idea. I did this on my Ipaq 5455 a long time ago and made a brick. I had to send it in to get it fixed. It was $70 total to do it. Now, im not sure if its the same here ... but it wouldn't surprise me because you pulled the battery.

just dont disconnect or take out battery its that simple wait till its completly done and your phone is on and at the home screen. I don't see why people pull out the battery when the hour glass shows up. Let it do its thing.

i don't think alot of folks here have much patience. if you haven't already rendered your phone a paperweight by pulling the battery before an update is complete, then LEAVE IT THE F--- ALONE and let it do it's thing. i think John Clark has stated something similar in this thread like 4 times.

only when the entire process is complete, and you are told so by the software on your PC, disconnect your device, throw it at a wall if you like. just wait until it's done.

just updated. didn't take long at all and everything works fine. i did get one error message at the end about a database not being able to be restored from backup... but i'm not sure what that was all about because everything is working fine and all my stuff is back on the phone.
