I just got my phone switched over to sprint and after everything was switched it still was not letting me call out or do anything. So the rep was walking me thrrough steps to do a "master reset" but we could not find it. She was then told, from their bb support, to tell me to wait about 2 hours for the change to take effect on their network. Is this true or do I need to do a reset?

do a battery pull. What is your signal indicator in the Top right hand corner? is it 1x, 1X, 1xev, or 1XEV?

There is no "master reset" for a BB.

Battery pull is a hard reboot (for lack of a better term)

It can take up to 24 hours for the services to go fully active though that is very very rare!

But with a nationwaide BB outtage today it is feasible

It has 1x. Also it still shows Activation Required on my screen still.

did you go through the programming steps again with Sprint on the phone? activations were affected by the RIM outage today, so you may still be waiting on the data side, but the voice should be working. i assume they walked you through a battery pull?

They never mentioned a battery pull. Instead they were trying to walk me through menu's trying to do a master reset. Then their tech support had me press # and some numbers and # again but that didn't do anything.

I pressed the keys as they said and didn't write them down. I did a battery pull and its still the same.

you might have to call them back. the #OTLK# is for phones, for BBs its a bit different. ask them for the one time lock code (or master lock code) the MSID and you have your phone number right?

It should be the same phone number that I had on my nextel blackberry.

The BB uses some codes to reset to factory defaults and then reprogram. I have the Sprint version of the 8130. The codes are as follows:

Restore to factory defaults: ##786
To reprogram the phone type: ##278838
Then the first two entries must be your phone number with area code.

is that phone specific to the 8130 because all other sprint phones the OTLK is different per device

You need to have the MSL and the MSID. The MSL is the lock code (specific to each device) and the MSID may or may not be the same as the cell number (and is specific to each cell number).

And Nextel devices to have a Master Radio Reset function....options -> security options -> general settings -> click wheel -> Master Radio Reset. Password is always 000000.

The reason my phones were not working after I initially called to switch my plans was because the rep who I spoke with did not ask me to change the MSL and MSID on both of my phones. I waited till morning to see if they worked and they didn't so I called them back and the rep I spoke with this morning new exactly what needed to be done by manually changing the MSL and MSID and had my phones working within 10 min.
