Ok, what's up with this crackberry.com site?
I'm browsing crackberry.com this morning, and the head honcho is not only just getting a Blackberry Curve on June 6 (yes he is in Canada and acknowledges this shipping delay) but apparently hasn't spent ANY time reading the umpteen bazillion "it's so light", "what a small box" reviews that are a dime a dozen on any of a trillion posts here and elsewhere....
Here's the link:
My Ongoing BlackBerry Curve Review - BlackBerry Forums at CrackBerry.com
His whole review is cosmetics.
Again, yeah I know he's in Canada. I know shipping there can be a problem.
Posting two weeks old gush is expected from new users -- not the apparent owner of a site that purports to be dedicated to crackberry users (defined by the site as addicts to Blackberry).
So he proceeds to write the same gushing featherweight crud that you can read from a new BB user in any of dozens of posts here and elsewhere.
1. The phone is light
2. Build quality is good
3. Trackball impressions
4. Aesthetics
5. Camera
6. Media player
Wow. Thanks for the hot tips...
You didn't mention how those volume keys are working for you, or how the Bluetooth video is (not) working.
To some extent this is my problem with many blogs today. They purport to be reviewing products when in actuality they do little but take pictures of their hands holding the device or themselves opening a box.
There's little (if any) critical analysis of the product including and flaws.
Are some of these sites paid shills for the products they "review"?
He had a to wait to have a Curve in hand before writing that lightweight first impressions review??
Holy cow.
What does the net breed -- a bunch of me too characters who contract with a whiz bang graphics team and suddenly are launching what APPEARS to be an authorative Blackberry site.
Oh, and naturally there's the obligatory box opening pictures (Y-A-W-N) --- (which have been posted probably 15 times over here and elsewhere on the net).
I call market top on these "blogvertisementforum" sites. At some point the site has to have some technical competence and believability to gather participation.
Rant Off
Have a nice day.
