Question BES Backup.

Please Login to Remove!

Hey guys, I've been searching and searching but I haven't quite found what I'm looking for....

I'm trying to find a step by step process for backing up the BES Server.

From which files to back up and how to go about restoring them if the server meltsdown and I'm trying to restore from tape to a new installation.

Would the users files/configurations be included in this, if not is there a way to include them?

Thanks in advance.

btw: BES 4.2 running on an Win2k SP4 box. w/ MS SQL Server Desktop Engine 5.0.

I would your first line of defense is the SQL DB, which holds all the stats/config. A reinstall would be necessary and just reconnect it the DB. Otherwise check out "neverfail" for high-availability

Or just clone it periodically

Look in Blackberry Enterprise Server\Utility folder for blackberrydbbackup.exe and blackberrybackup.exe. The docs have the necessary switches. I run a cmd file nightly. However, I agree with guruleenyc - simply clone it whenever possbile. That's how I've done my last few upgrades as well.

Thanks,

I'll let you guys know how this works out for me, whichever method we choose to use. Once i've successfully implemented a restored backup I'll be content.

Thanks again.
