Anyone have any familiarity with using this? It's just been released for 4.0 and supposedly compatible with GW BES, yet the thing seems to keep crashing on me.


Syntax:

BESUserAdminService -install -clientpassword BES123 -platform g -servers "mybesserver.mycompany.com" -login mybesserver\besadmin -password BES123 -auto -GWUserID gwbesuser


Now with -install in there, it just keep scrolling to the help screen.

Without it, it will print the message:

Starting ...
Could not connect to Service Control Manager. Using console mode ...

'BlackBerry User Administration Service' - console mode (enter 'x' or 'X' to exit)

Then exits back to a command prompt after about 5 secs or so...

I uninstalled and reinstalled just now to check the syntax. Here's what I used:


besuseradminservice -install -login addomain\BESAdmin -password BESadminPass -auto -clientpassword BESPass -platform Exchange -servers "bes.addomain.edu" -mapi BESAdmin

It responds with 'BlackBerry User Administration' installed. I did the install from my management station, and not directly on the BES. I don't know if that matters or not.

I'm assuming since you're on GroupWise you don't use MAPI. That aside, the only thing I see that may be a problem is the specification of platform. My docs show using the full name for the platform and not a one letter abbreviation.

Hrmm... I'll try the full name. No, GW doesn't use mapi as well.

On the BES server is where I'm installing it. Now I just get:

'BlackBerry User Administration Service' could not be created'

I'm gonna go back there and kick the server really hard a few times and see if that helps.... why can't these things ever just be easy? :(

Are you sure the user credentials you're providing have local admin rights on that server? I have my BES Admin user as a member of the local administrators group on the BES. That error almost sounds kinda like a permissions problem.

Actually, it's been pointed out that Beta versions don't work with hotfixes, service packs or resource kits. Looks like we'll finally have to get on the ball and purchase it.
