Default App download question

Please Login to Remove!

Our IT Policy does not allow 3rd party download.
Is it possible to configure it so that it allows users to be able to download certain Apps (in AppWorld)?

As bisleri says, if you have this policy switched on, it is not possible to download any app from AppWorld (and anywhere else).

But you can switch that policy off and use the following policy which is more granular:

Blackberry App World

> Application Restriction Rule: Allow
> Application Restriction List: List all App IDs that you want to allow

That will only allow your users to install the Apps you allow.

To prevent users to install App via other channels (web link, USB cable etc.) you can use the following IT policy in addition:

Security

> Application Installation Methods: Choose from
>> Disallow App World
>> Disallow Browser
>> Disallow Media Card
>> Disallow USB

Your suggestion looks like what I'm looking for, however I can't find "Application Restriction Rule" & "Application Restriction List" options anywhere in the Policy tabs. Can you let me know where to locate them?
I'm using Blackberry Enterprise Server Express
Thanks

Set Disallow Third Party Application Downloads IT policy rule to (no) in the Security policy group of the associated IT Policy.

@Qster: I don't think that this IT policy exists in BES Express. One of the differences of Express to the Full version is that Express has about 40 policies and Full BES has about 400 policies.

Hello,

I had a question, i did exactly this for my orginization:
Quote:
Blackberry App World

> Application Restriction Rule: Allow
> Application Restriction List: List all App IDs that you want to allow

That will only allow your users to install the Apps you allow.

To prevent users to install App via other channels (web link, USB cable etc.) you can use the following IT policy in addition:

Security

> Application Installation Methods: Choose from
>> Disallow Browser
>> Disallow Media Card
>> Disallow USB
This works like a charm on devices of 7.1 and newer version.
The problem im having is i can't activate this for everyone in the company.

Cause all the devices older then 7.1 can still use the browser to download.
Now my question is:
Is there a way to disable the downloading outside of appworld for the older versions?
