Default Internet Connectivity on BB 9780

Please Login to Remove!

I purchased BB 9780 few days back and from Day 1 I am facing problem with internet connectivity. Most of the times Internet Browser does not open the webpage and gives error that internet access is not available and should contact service provider.

I checked with service provider (Vodafone) and first they asked me to delete some files from service book and when it didnt help then they asked me to wipe my BB. I did blackberry wipe and just restored my phonebook contacts but still facing same problem.

Does anyone has solution to this problem????

(FYI, earlier I was using 8310 and never had any problem like this)

Do you have a BB data plan properly activate with this device?

Yes, Data plan is activated as I am receiving and sending mails with it. Facebook and messenger tools are working.
Browser does work but for sometimes only - 7 out of 10 times it does not work and gives message that internet connection not available.

Please help.

It is not a general problem as mine works fine.

Have you checked for possible sources of interference with your wireless signal. Do you have any company policies applied to your device? Do a Ctrl alt H and what's the signal strength. Does the browser work in one place but not in another. Is it only one particular web site that fails or do all web sites fail?

Another idea is that it is either a firmware problem in which case you could reload or upgrade your firmware.

Or its a problem with the hardware and because your device is almost definitely brand new in that case simply ask for a replacement device.

Does the problem persist when you use WiFi?

First, do a battery pull. 1st step to take if device is having problems? - BlackBerryFAQ

Then resend service books from your BIS site or have the carrier do it.

Make sure that you have the correct browser enabled and you are not using the "hotspot" browser.

Signal Strength is fine -60 dBm.
Sevice books have been replaced many times by service provider but doesnt help.

But I noticed that when I use browser with wifi then there is absolutely no problem.

Get them to provision you for another data plan and see if that helps. I've had that issue in the past with one of our phones on our BES.

Overkill, how did you clear the problem with your device on the BES? I've got the issue with intermittent internet access but also have no access through some apps (eg Facebook) and also with BB Maps. We have BlackBerry data plans and have been sending/receiving emails for years with no problem. Once attached to a BES, does web traffic try to go through the internal network, or should it still be using the ISP. Not sure if a BES IT policy is causing it, but I can't see any settings referring to this sort of thing

Just switched the data plan. For some reason the parameters for the plan that was set for the device didn't propagate through the network properly. The phone would work in Canada, but not outside. Even though the phone had no restrictions on it.

Getting them to change the data plan to a 1GB plan from the 512 that it was set to "fixed" the issue, as it reset things in their system. Prior to this, the provider couldn't get it figured out, and I had talked to a number of people and nobody could tell me anything. I figured, since the issue was geographical, and none of our other phones on the same network, going through the same BES were having the issue, that it had to be an issue with the provisioning from the provider. They didn't agree, but I asked them to change the data plan, they did, and it immediately started working correctly.

They were pretty surprised, lol!

To experiment, I opted out of BES and just tried with internet browing and yahoo/hotmail emails........it is ~10% better but still getting connectivity problems.

Perhaps, need to try more.

Are we using the 9780 with wifi and cellular on? Turn off wifi and see if that helps. I've seen some connectivity problems with wifi and it seems to get confused as to which route to take to the internet. turning off cellular or wifi seems to allowed the phone to connect on the other radio with no problem. I have upgraded to the latest beta os and have yet to see this issue again. However after upgrade my SIM got fried (it was old and from my pearl flip) but until I can rule out the os frying the sim, I'd use caution if you go to the new beta.

Perhaps try the latest OS release and see if that "magically" fixes it then? There is always the possibility it is software related.

I have switched to 9780 from 9700 three weeks ago, thru Orange.
9780 had .285 software version. All worked like a charm.
Completely wiped and updated software to .359.
No browser connectivity. Worked one out of ten times.
Thru WiFi, it worked great.
Since I read the posts here, I called Orange.
The tech stayed half an hour scratching his head.
At the end he asked me for the soft version, I said .359.
He was relieved when I said that, as if he struck it.
he asked me to change to any soft version, but not to .3xx because the .3xx is not intended to the 3g and 3g+ systems here.
I updated to .448
browser opened instantly.
maybe its bshit, but it works now
