Default Fast charging?

Please Login to Remove!

I bought a Rocketfish car charger the other day because I was on the road when my phone died and I had to. I noticed it was charging my phone pretty fast and realized it has a 2amp output. That seems incredibly high to me and I don't feel comfortable using that on my phone. The stock wall charger is rated 850mA. One thing I can't discern is if 2mps is max for the charger and usb together or if just my phone is plugged in it gets the max 2amps. The easy answer is return it and get one from the att store but I just bought a car charger for my wifes iphone and they don't even list the output specs at all. I only let my phone charge for a few minutes before taking it off the charger and using the usb port, not that that made a difference but it felt better in my head. Anyone have any insight to fast charging? I don't think I like it.

I'm just an amateur and I distrust shortcuts. And with blackberrys I stick with OEM everything. So I would tend to agree with your last sentence.

I went to the oem store for my wifes charger and that's when I noticed they don't list the output. So I'd go from charging at a high rate to charging at an unknown but assumed safe rate. I checked the battery and it is 1500mAh, so charging at 2amps should be ok for the battery but I really have no clue how these phones regulate the charging and if they can take this kind of abuse. I agree with you and tend to like oem everything too. In this case oem leaves us hanging. This might not be a big deal but I just got my phone and I really don't want to kill it.
Fyi I'm using my wifes iphone as a guinea pig with an oem charger. She's almost ready for a 4g anyway so please don't think I'm too cruel
