Default 8310 charging problems

Please Login to Remove!

Hi i purchased the curve 8310 off ebay a couple of weeks ago. i've had a few problems with it such as, it wont charge, connects to usb but doesn't sustain the connection.
I managed to update the operating system (after hours of trying because of the connection problem) but it still wouldnt charge. it showed the charging symbol but it then kept flikering on and off, therfore it wasnt getting any charge. i decided to purchase a charging pod which uses the two gold connectors at the back of the phone but was still having the same problem
After looking it up i found out that it is a software problem and i should try re-installing my OS. The thing is i cant connect my phone to my pc to do this. If there is any alternative way of re-instaling the OS please will some one let me know as this is driving me crazy?!
Thanks

Moved to the 8300 section.

Do you have Desktop Manager installed on your PC? You need that to install the proper drivers.

Are you connecting via a HUB? If so connect directly into the PC.

Have you tried a wall charger or a car charger? Do either of those work?

An alternative to DM is the BB Swiss Army Knife - BBSAK. Use Google to find it and install.

For an OS, see the yellow sticky at the top of the 8300 section. Make sure that you have the correct OS as it is model specific, meaning for the 8310, you need the 8310 OS. The instructions for installation are there as well. Make sure that you follow them exactly and be patient. It can take an hour or longer.

I personally do not see it as a software or OS issue. MY opinion is that if it doesn't charge, then it could be either the battery or a bad USB port.

Hi, thanks for replying.
Yea i have the Desktop Manager installed and im connecting directly to the pc.
i have tried charging using a wall chager and a charging pod niether work, haven't tried a car charger yet though.
I purchased a new battery and the same was happening.
I thaught it could be a bad usb port on the phone but don't understand why it does the same thing using the charging pod.
Maybe a bad charger?

Did the device get wet?

Sounds like the charging mechanism is damaged somehow.

If it got wet you may have a problem. Try cleaning the contacts to remove any corrosion. Under the batter there is a small square that should be white. If itxxx8217;s red it means the BB was wet and if possible return it to the seller.

When electronic devices get wet and fail, it's difficult to diagnose what the failed part is. Most of the time it's just easier to replace the whole device. Not saying a phone shop can't repair it, but it might cost you more than what you paid for the phone.

read these and consider them for future purchases.

You have nothing to lose if they will quote you a price before any work. Also try the contact cleaning to see if it helps.
