I'm a long time BB user coming from a 7130, then a 8330 Curve, now a 9550 Storm2, all on Verizon.

I really liked Sure Type and missed it when I went from the 7130 to the Curve. But the Curve did come with spell checker so I adapted to it. For the last year I'm back using Sure Type in Portrait Mode on the Storm 2 and except for an occasional problem it works well for me.

My choice would be the Torch/Sure Type slide out keyboard. My contract isn't up for awhile so maybe they'll come out with one?

no suretype. Has the slide out QWERTY and a soft QWERTY

My Torch has Suretype keyboard on screen in portrait mode, full keyboard on screen in landscape mode.

I only hope Verizon carries it by next spring as that's when my contract is up.

Suretype? The onscreen keyboards on mine are QWERTY in both portrait and landscape.

If you go into the options and choose reduced it displays a keyboard similar to a pearl qw er ty ui op 2 letters on the same key in portrait mode.

You're correct. Sorry, I was mistaken above.

IF you close the keyboard and type from the touchscreen only (say in an email or SMS), you will see a SureType portrait keyboard or in horizontal mode, a full QWERTY keyboard.
