Default Video recording screen - why does available memory show nearly zero/nothing?

Please Login to Remove!

I have a Bold. Not sure exactly the sub-model, but I'm on ATT and I've had it over two years.

In the bottom left area of the screen shown when I select video camera, is some sort of horizontal linear measure of the amount of memory available for storage of the videos I shoot. Try as I may, I can't find an example screen anywhere on the innerwebs. The funny (strange) thing is that mine shows in the red and (the graphical equivalent of) about 5% nearly always, even thought I store on my micro-SD memory card which has >2gb empty!

What's the connection between memory available for video storage and generally available memory?

Why does it show me nearly out of memory (for video storage) when I have over 2gb empty on my SD card (and video storage is set to store on the card, not internal memory)?
