ATT BOLD OS Patch for Dropped Calls?
Please Login to Remove!
ATT has told us that they were working on a patch for the BOLD OS to fix a problem with calls being dropped due to problems handing off between towers. Has anyone else had this problem or heard about this? They told us it should be ready by the end of July.

Its probably the latest OS version released by RIM that allows the phone to be manually locked to 2G. It is a solution that stops calls from being dropped but there go the 3G features (phone and data simultaneously and speed).

I hope they do something. I've had a handful of dropped calls over the past 2 months, but yesterday and today was ridiculous. I dropped every call over 5 mins and when on the road talking to cust no service, dropped on the same lady 8 times. Finally got home and through to tech support and the guy said do a reset (tried that 10 times already) and then make a call and see if it drops, call 611 back if it does. To my reply, "and what go through a 30 min conversation again to do a reset, no stay on the line and see if it drops". Well, he couldn't so that ended the convesation...FRUSTRATING!!!

I'm on 282 as well, and I'm getting dropped calls 100% if i talk for longer than 10 mins, i have to call long distance to oversea everyday and I first thought it was my international service provider. it drops while i'm talking in my house, on the road driving or in office !!! this is very fvcking annoying!
I also noticed that sometimes my phone would switch from 3G to EDGE then back to 3G, this is when i am tethering internet to my mac. when it's on EDGE, internet is dead and i have to reconnect.

The network in NYC is too bad for too long. I appreciate the fact that they're working to improve it but it just isn't fast enough. The link below is to file a service complaint with the FCC. I filed my second last week as my calls continue to drop. AT&T has offered me a credit but I want them to let me out of my contract.

lol, att is not working on anything.
I work for them and we are waiting for the 5.0 release.
Get .282 and just turn 3g off for now. Hopfully 5.0 OS will fix 3g drop calls on Bold.

Interesting as all of the OS code is written by RIM (not the carriers) and is then tested (and maybe released) by the carriers.

nuh-uuuh. My mom knows a guy who works with a lady whose babysitter's uncle works on the team that is doing the work. I know because her twin sister's husband's half-brother told me he saw the actual code. And I believe him.

Sorry let me rephrase, we are not releasing any OS's (That are coded and Developed by RIM) until 5.0.... Which is not relevant anyway since any release OS can be put on an at&t phone.

I was making sure that everyone in the thread (not just you) understood who is writing the code and not the carrier.
