Anybody ever encounter this error message: "Sim not allowed." I used to get this
on my 8310, but I figure it might have been solved on the bold.

First time I got it on my new bold.

I know that a simple soft reboot will solve this problem just curious if anyone know
the reason why?

Sounds like a dying SIM card. Get a new one and try that.

It really depends. Is the SIM card from the old Cingular? If that's the case, then you do need a new SIM with 3G enabled for 3G phones such as the Bold.
