I have an 8700c. Earlier today, for some unknown reason, the "Messages" icon vanished off my home screen. I have configured the front convenience key to retrieve

Messages. How do I get the icon back??

Anyway, do what lgreenberg said. Make sure you didn't hide it, and then pull the battery if you are absolutely, positively sure you did not hide it by mistake. Ensure that you leave the battery out for a few minutes.

It may have been accidentally hidden. However, not only do I know how it might have become hidden, I have searched everywhere on the little bugger and cannot for the life of me figure out how to make it visible.

Perhaps you could point me in the right direction.

Hold down the ALT key (lower left hand corner) and click the trackwheel. Select "Show All" - if it appears it was hidden.
Scroll to it, ALT/trackwheel and select Unhide icon.

I will shortly be posting a report on how the 8700c did in Europe. I was in Germany and Holland for the last 10 days, returning earlier today.
